I'm just glad to have got round, think I have lost about a stone in sweat this morning! My official time is 41:26, similar to last week's pb of 41:09 - I did have to tell myself "slow and steady" a couple of times but decided to enjoy a bit of a sprint on the shady downhill stretches! I slowed down to take a picture of the Gruffalo hiding in the forest but it's come out blurry so I should have kept going and I might have beaten my pb! Chatted to a nice runner at the end who is training for a 50k and came to Bedgebury for the hills. He says that his local one at Tonbridge is much flatter so I might have to give that a go and see how I do on a nice flat course. I have done 3 Parkruns at Bedgebury now and I am STILL surprised by the hills, it is like I blot it from my mind as soon as I have finished! π Excitingly, a team GB athlete was joining in this morning, I didn't try to keep up with her though.. π π π
Parkrun - phew, what a scorcher! : I'm just... - Bridge to 10K
Parkrun - phew, what a scorcher!
Did the same time in Cardiff hotter than France but no hills so well done Iβm enjoying a few bursts too canβt get under 40 yet though
I knew if I really went for it to try and get under 40 minutes I would just burn out and probably have to walk / quit. Next time we have a cooler Saturday morning, I'm going to try really hard to go a bit faster... We'll get there! βΊ
Yes we will I m wondering if I need to lift my knees up a bit more there is something in my technique I think and I do au attention to Laura saying tips on posture what do you do during the week for between runs ?
Well done Debston. It certainly was a challenge doing parkrun today in this heat π₯΅π
That looks amazing Debs! π It was hot today, I usually say thank you to the marshals when I pass, but this time i was making loud exhausted noises, like βOH. MY. DAYS!.. Iβm ROASTING!β π₯΅ I did enjoy it though.
I managed to pant out a few thank yous but was strictly just doing thumbs up towards the end! π Love the volunteers, they really keep me going. I must volunteer soon.
Well done, Debs. Hope you have cooled down now. Lovely picture.
Well done! What a gorgeous place to run!
It's gorgeous and only 10 - 15 minutes away by car. There's a lovely CafΓ© by the lake too and you get 10% off if you show your Parkrun barcode! Sadly I forgot to take any money with me this morning, doh!
Superb run getting so close to that PB in this heat! Tonbridge sometimes sees Dame Kelly Holmes run... I wouldnβt try keeping up with her either π€£π€£
Yet again Debs a brilliant effort on a very warm day !!. Now it's time to enjoy the sunshine πππβ
Well done you, on such a hot day too. Thank goodness for that lovely shady stretch in the trees. π
Great run in this heat and will hills. π
Well done Debston, the heat was challenging and thatβs a respectable time and staying close to your last weeks time, you pushed yourself in the circumstances! Letβs hope next weekβs Park Run is a little cooler.
If anything, todayβs Park Run has helped me prepare for future Park Runs in the heat πππ
OMG!!! You are INCREDIBLE!! Getting out there in this heat?!!!! Today I have been mostly taking inspiration from my dog... and flopping about in the shadows!! I love that you keep βforgettingβ about those hills... I canβt seem to shake them out of my mind!! Just as an aside, the builder who did our kitchen is a Team GB triathlete... and he also uses Bedgebury Parkrun as one of his training runs, because βits suitably challenging...β I am so full of respect for you I might burst!! X
I bet you were glad to have the shade from those trees, sounds a lovely run.
Ooooh, how beautiful. Having grown up romping through the pine forests of Cannock Chase, I have a soft spot for them. And the smell of pine needles in the sun is like nothing else.
Well done on a consistent time, which is a real achievement on hills in this heat! Enjoyment is the key to it!
Great run Debstin. Well done. That spot does look so nice too! β€οΈ
Well done! Beautiful looking course and massive kudos for running yesterday in the intense heat! π₯΅πββοΈππ
