Breaking in trail shoes

I wanted to give my new trail shoes a try out so I had a happy pootle round St. Aidan’s RSPB reserve to the East of Leeds. Recommended by another runner in a Facebook group, there were walking routes that were easy to follow and the reedbeds were chockablock with geese and terns. It used to be an open cast mine and a huge crane, ‘Oddball’ is still here. It was a good test of my shoes: I’ve almost got the hang of the lacing now and whilst very comfy they are certainly different to my road shoes, and I took it slow and steady to look after my knee on the bumpier bits. Very long grass showed that they aren’t as waterproof as advertised! Followed by a nice hot chocolate at the cafe: a lovely way to spend a day off 👍

Thank you: it was. Nice and flat for the most part, too 👍

They let water in but it drains away quickly 😃. Have fun in them 👍
