When people post their stats off Garmin etc I take a sneaky peek at their kcals expended. I suppose they’re calculated according to what we input about our weight and perhaps height and age.
I’m told I use 100 kcal per km. When I see people who are at, say, 75 I think “no wonder you’re so fast!”🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♂️

Weight has an impact on calories burned... I’m only ever aiming for top of the healthy BMI bracket to keep those calories burned up... then I get more lovely food to replace them.
I’m tracking my calories in, and on my long run days I can’t comfortably eat enough... so I keep a log of what I was under and add that to my short run days... I’m enjoying myself and eating a lot of what I like... but my weight is stable, and I may as well enjoy the extra life running gives me.
I run before breakfast and strangely it cuts my appetite. Have a good lunch with what I like (within broad limits) but no more than a small snack at most in the evening. But it’s the wine in France that sinks me despite keeping to water only before a run day. Tough, eh!!!! But I do love my runs
