Feeling bad - First non run due to weather

I got up early as usual to run but today there is very heavy rain. I don’t mind a bit but I’d be drenched in less than a minute. Got back into bed again. Feel very bad. This is the first time I haven’t run due to bad weather. Looks like it’s going to last about 5 days. It’s making me wonder how I’ll cope in the winter. I was wondering how other people manage? Maybe the rain might lighten this evening. I guess that’s my backup plan for today.

I started C25k in January and had to deal with snow and sleet but in a way it kept me cool. I don’t mind it, you get wet for 30’ and then have a very hot shower and you feel amazing. Alternatively you can wear a jacket and not get so wet and a visor or cap is useful to avoid water in the eyes. Maybe just go for a short run? Or try NRC a wet run

I love rain runs. And the hot shower afterwards.

Thanks. Yep good idea about trying a wet run. Will look into that. Was thinking of investing in a treadmill but maybe need to start thinking differently. Thanks

You quickly get used to the cold! Honestly 👍. In winter I warm up indoors first before heading out for the warm up walk

Rain wise, you get an inexpensive baseball cap and a a lightweight running jacket If you’re not going far, and are staying close to home those two things are sufficient. Make sure you’re wearing bright clothing as you need to be seen 😃. It’s not that important to run in torrential rain as you can hold off for a break in the weather. We do get lots of rain so it’s as well to be ready I got caught in it yesterday and was glad to get home into a hot bath 🛀

Thanks. I guess with starting in spring I’ve been a bit spoilt so far. Maybe just best getting out there and going shorter distance. Thanks

i just turned out for a steady jog as the rain had abated. Just got back in when the heavens opened once again. Phew!

I was like a drowned rat when I got back after my run yesterday morning the rain had gone through my rain jacket and waterproof cap but I had made the decision to go out as usual I intended to do 10K but gave in at 9.

Because I was soaked but I’m an all weather runner do I just get on with it.

I complain to myself all the way but I love it really

Wow! This is nuts. I thought people would be saying join a cheap gym for when it rains, get a treadmill, etc. I wasn’t expecting so many people to go and get soaked. 😮

I go home this morning and nothing was dry!

I was creating puddles as I got undressed, but it was a great run 😊💧💧☔🌧.

Give it a go 🤩

Thanks. I think I’m going to have to. Will probably get chance to have a go later this week although still hoping it stops! 😬
