I completed the couch to 5k in December and since then I finished bridge to 10k in march. Since April I've not run very much as I was on holiday for a few weeks (climbing a mountain amongst other things).. the idea being bridge to 10k would get me fit to climb the mountain. Anyway, it was hard work but must've helped!. Since I've been home I've been on one 4km run. I got a bit of pain inbetween my ankle and knee just to the outside of the middle of my leg, it almost felt really heavy aswell as painful if that makes sense? That was a couple of weeks ago, so I decided not to run for a while and to just walk instead. I've walked a fair bit, mostly to and from work which is a 5 mile round trip. I got back on the treadmill today and within a minute got the pain in my leg again. Does it sound like shin splints? Within a few mins of stopping the pain went and I can walk comfortably again.. any advice appreciated!

Maybe has been going on long enough to warrant a visit to a physio? It cuts out a lot of guesswork. I had recurring pain down the outside of my calf which proved to be a muscle issue. The physio slackened off the tight areas with a sports massage and gave me an exercise routine to help build up the muscle strength between sessions. It worked really well and quite quickly. I still use her daily exercises which have really helped to build up strength. I think just resting an injured area doesn’t always work well.

As above... sports massage or physio if you can access one easily. 👍
I agree see your GP or a physio. Don't leave it too long.

Thanks all... I was hoping for a quick fix (as I'm sure everyone in this position is!) but will seek advice from my GP or a physio.
