Amazing achievement by this guy though I’m sure he’d rather have completed his race more conventionally. I’m sharing it because it illustrates how dangerous over training can be: by his own admission he wasn’t allowing enough recovery time between races but now, instead of taking planned rest he’s on the IC for months.

He will be a spectator for the rest of this year, I agree that is what happens when you overtrain and not give yourself enough rest from running, I know that you will be able to train and run without any injuries as you do give yourself rests between runs.
Wouldn’t say till the end of the year Al going by the article. Nor would I assume I will be injury free: I reduce the risk as you say but none of us can be sure we won’t pick up an injury. I didn’t post the article to find fault with the guy; there’s no need as he is obviously sufficiently self aware to realise that he had taken a risk by racing too much. I just thought the lesson he learned the hard way was worth sharing.
Great to say he has done all this running but not so great to have a broken leg and he dosent know how strong his leg will be when its healed such a shame 😊
He’s brave for sure... I was looking at HM plans and figured I’d need 9 weeks minimum between events, probably longer... hats off to him for even booking so many, it’s possible to train to run them regularly, but to race them in an event probably not. Shame he got injured, he knew the risks and sadly it was a risk too many. Even the elites only complete a couple of marathons a year, though many of them have lots of DNFs apparently in between.

I can completely relate too, I'm guilty of overtraining this year despite some thigh pain, completed my half marathon 😁👍, but now on the I.C due to increasing pain when walking. Went to the walk in centre yesterday and diagnosed with a tendon injury. 😢
So, lots of rest, ice and ibuprofen, I'm on holiday next week and hopefully three weeks without running will sort it!
