100k done... 62.13 miles. It’s been a good month, but hard work in places... how do these ultra runners do this in a day?
Rest day tomorrow and then June starts with a gentle flat 5k at parkrun.

Wowee that so impressive ! I could just get to 25 miles but may give myself a challenge for next month.
Enjoy your park run tomorrow “Forrest” 🤣👍
Thanks... now I have to think of a challenge for next month too
Have you heard about the Race at your Pace website ? Just signed up for 50 miles in June 😳
You can choose your distance !
Wow! Congratulations that’s a great achievement.
I was hiking in the Alps with a friend some years ago and met some people running; they ended up running 100km with 10k ascent over 24 hours which was exactly what we achieved in 5 days. I suppose each to their own but wow!
We have a guy at parkrun who ran Europe’s toughest multi day walk last year, and another who casually runs HM every morning before work. I always said they were both bonkers, but the closer I get to what they’re doing the less crazy it seems.
That’s fantastic! Well done! 👏👏
Wow! What an inspiration. 👏🏼🎉👏🏼 Super Runner!! 😃
Well done UnfitNoMore ! I was aiming for that but fell short, got to 85k myself. You're a true inspiration, you know that?
I missed it first time I went for it... couple of niggles said to back off a little... goals are supposed to be challenging, and maybe a good goal is just out of reach first time we try it. Took me two attempts to bag my first 10k, I was running too fast on the first and unable to slow down, so I figured a 2.6 mile tempo was good, a 6.21 mile hard was going to at least hurt and aborted the run. Next time out it was easy, and my second 10k was a whole 5 minutes quicker as I ran with coach Bennett telling me to slow it down, splits were very even, negatives were possible, but that’s for race days.
85k is great, and that 100 is now in range for next month, or maybe July... but one thing is certain, you’ll do it soon.
Well done. I commend you on your efforts thats amazing. Congrats. 🙂
Thanks.... 2 weeks of 10k consolidation now and it’s time to start that HM plan. I never thought I’d be saying these words a year after starting to run... while I wanted to run a marathon from the start, I think I’d have been happy with a couple of jogs and a parkrun every week. Now it’s on though, HM plan starts in a couple of weeks.
Well if u still want your marathon theres Cardiff marathon in April 2020.
Well done I'm slowly getting to 10k on the way to my HM in October. I definately know what u mean I never thought I'd be running at all let alone planning for a HM or having completed 50miles in may. I think we surprise ourselves when we push our boundaries. You can still do your parkrun on the way to ur HM plan. when is your HM?
I’m looking at Marathon du Medoc September 2020... not sure I would like a city marathon as I don’t like running the streets now... of course all this may change during my long run training.
HM for me is November 3rd, and I’m assuming I will have a run around the 5k mark in plan most weeks. I’ve also been looking at running to parkrun as a long run, but I’d have to be pretty good on timing to pull that one off! I can reach a nice flat one with 7 miles of hilly run to get there, and most weeks I could nick a lift home too... so I’m going to try the route the first time I get a 7 miler.
Wow. The cut off time for mine is 4hrs30. Not sure if it's the same for you. I got shared a link to a HM plan I'll see if I can find it and I'll pop it on here but it's mainly 4-5 miles 2 days a week and an increased mileage on the 3rd day upto 12 and then u do the 13.1 on ur HM day.
What's the furthest distance u got to atm.?
I’ve done 2 10k runs... the plan I was looking at goes to 15 miles, so in theory I will know I can finish by HM day. Cutoff for my HM is 3 hours... I’m currently running 10k in 1:07 so I should be ok. Cutoff at the marathon will be 6:30 but there are 23 wine tasting stations on the route, so that could be challenging to say the least 🤣. Can’t see me tasting more than 20 🤣🤣
Thats good timing I can do 8k in just over 1hr. That's good planning with 15mile plan think I need to make adjustments to mine then I know I can accomplish my challenge.
Oh wow a different kind of marathon and although maybe challenging, definitely sounds fun. Good luck
It’ll be good... in all seriousness I’ll probably avoid all wine in the first half. There’s a 10k walk the day after to sample all the wines again.
The plan I was looking at was on the Nike run club app... it takes your race date, current weekly mileage, long run (and pace) and a recent race result (I used a parkrun) to give you a plan... and if you run it then every Sunday morning it offers to adapt to your current running, which while not essential does mean that if you’re ill for a few days and miss anything then the plan will come back to you.
I have the NRC app but just found the bit u were talking about. I imputed my info but not entirely convinced but we shall see I may have to tweak it with the plan I already have.
That's good that u get another day to taste the wine. Although after running the marathon the day before walking 10k the next day kinda fills me with horror lol
Well done, that is a great achievement!😀👍
Congratulations to you UnfitNoMore on completing your May 100K challenge, well done, those ultra marathon runners train for those distances most days a week by running a 10K, half marathon or full marathon around 5 days a week, however, some of them do get injured as well. Have a rest day tomorrow and enjoy your parkrun with Junior UNM on Saturday.
Yep... day off tomorrow, just a little strengthening work and a walk I think.
I never fancied an ultra, truth be told I still don’t, but as the achievement badge came up on my app I couldn’t help but think that it would be awesome to earn that badge on the 1st of the month! I believe you’re correct and these guys run to injury and then through it again, there was a guy who broke the record for marathons run in a year (I think that was it anyway) and he lost 10 days to injury but was straight back on it running 2 a day to catch up. That kinda stuff takes a kind of crazy that I don’t have in me.
That’s fabulous and wow thats some mileage UNM. Well done. Here’s me Bowing with huge runners respect 🙇♀️. did 80k in April so know how hard work that mileage is. Enjoy that rest day.
Just read your post what an achievement to be proud of well done . You got me thinking about how much I run per month and its 68k per month , I've got a wee bit to go to catch you up 😊😊
I've walked an ultra in 2 days. Last time i ended up chatting to a lovely lady at the station who had run it. (Up and down the cotswold hills!) She could barely walk but had the biggest grin on her face. She then casually tells me this was just a warm up for a run she had coming up later that month. Bonkers, absolutely bonkers 🤪😊😊
Wow amazing! You'll have to reward yourself with new shoes, you'll be wearing them out at that rate haha!
This is true... if I had the inclination to buy the shoes Kipchoge set the word record in they’d last 2 months at this rate, and at over £100 a month I think I’d cut back a lot 🤣. You raise a thought in my head though, I need to manage shoes so I have some part worns for event day, new ones being needed then wouldn’t end well!
Thanks for your support.
Fantastic achievement! Well done.
Thanks... see you on Saturday!
Oooh, looking forward to it, particularly given that I missed the last one!
Well done, that IS good going!
See you there
Hi well done 😁I was thinking of doing one of those challenges how many days a week did you have to get out for that.
