Hi guys !! Well we successfully completed 'B,ham Great Run' yesterday ,on a rather damp morning, !! Course included some nice inclines too, which took its toll on my knees, at least .Support from speckled - taters was nice for us as they called our names out and offered words of encouragement !! Lovely and moving ,really, to see the wide range of charity organisations represented by the runners !! Our first 'official run' was a real experience ,showed us that our training was not in vain ,and has added impetus and determination to our decision to carry on running !! I ran alongside my wife and daughter up to 8K then cut loose for the final 2, - they finished in a time of 1:28:59 and myself in 1:20:33.Enjoyed a couple of pints and a meal in the city after !! Would love to do this again next year and perhaps go out from the off at 10K pace .Recommend the experience to all runners ,great fun and chance to raise needed funds for worthy charities !!

Great job Fit4life and fam! You guys did great and have been definitely bit by the running bug 😁. How nice that you are able to run it together (for the first 8k, at least)

It was a ‘Great Run’ wasn’t it. I was also inspired by the many charities and the support along the way. The water stop was chaotic but very welcoming. The drums at 3/8 were a bonus! Found it quite disconcerting to see the elite going past in the opposite direction as I got to 3k!! Met a lovely girl at 5/6k who was struggling a bit. I encouraged her and when I got to my walk at 7/8 she kept me going. It made me realise I need a running buddy. See you there next year!

Yes, very much a carnival atmosphere prevailed throughout and the slight drizzle early on was very welcome too !! Managed to grab a drink around the 7/8K distance ,needed it too.Encouragement was very nice to have en route especially when I gave it my best shot on the final 2K , the support tends to suck you over the line - glad you too enjoyed the occasion CC !!
