The top two photos are the Galeries Lafayette and a little view of the glass walk out under the dome. Magnificent! We arrived in London yesterday afternoon, picked up our rental car and here we are in Bath. We left France behind and all of its friendly drivers who waved and tooted and called out to us everywhere we went. 😂. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to do a parkrun or even a run while there, so hello UK.
After 3 weeks and one day and 12 hours, but who’s counting? without a run, today was the day and I just can’t believe that a 5 minute warm up walk from where we are staying took me to Linear Park, which in NZ I’ve never heard of. Must be my Garmin, homing in or something - Magic! Walked over a little bridge and saw the signs for Start. Did my best Manuel impression Que? Well guess what? I only chose the day of the Two Tunnels Run Series 🙂 5,10, HM, Marathon and Ultra, for a jog in the park. It was amazing, wonderful atmosphere, loads of runners and running through the old railway tunnels was an unforgettable experience. Stopped to take a couple of photos, then finished my run to cheer on some runners. 5.5km done with no back problems at all Yay! Off out for dinner shortly but first a glass of French Champers which the owner of the apartment we’re staying in left in our care package. What could be more perfect Dahlings than a run and 🥂 🍾 it is absolutely fabulous. (a big 🤞 for meeting up with VRB’s at Sale.)

Good run for you today lexi6 considering that it was your first run for three weeks, I recognised the top two photos immediately but wasn't sure of the bottom two.
I would imagine running through old railway tunnels was quite a experience, I would think that there would be lights in the tunnel, otherwise it would be pitch black.
I bet you are looking forward to meeting up with your VRBs at Sale, the weather is to get gradually better this week. 😊 🏃
Oh cheeky thats next door! Blimey! The races looked absolutely fantastic but I’m so thrilled I could run today, was starting to get very worried about whether I could pick up where I left off and now I’m elated!
Thanks AlMorr, it was fantastic. I think it was part of the Somerset and Dorset railway line and is a cycle route now. It was pretty dark in there, I could hear the runners coming and fortunately the cyclists were well lit up. Its been wet, then fine, then wet, but I’ve come well prepared for parkruns, got everything but Wellies🙂
Aah! BBr I think I’m in heaven, or pretty darn close. Bath really is lovely, but having a run on an old disused railway line today with other runners was way more interesting than my usual runs alongside a concrete path next to a railway track. Did lots of stretches after my run to earn the Champers, over 21,000 steps already today. If I get too boring with my posts please let me know. 🥰 xx
And I forgot to say that I thought of you there today and (after looking behind me first, hate to take out an ultra runner) I did aeroplanes with sound effects, very, very satisfying.🙂
Sounds like you are having fantastic time. Really funny - I was at the “junior Tour de France” on Friday and talking to a couple who live in Cheshire (we are still in France). She has done Sale parkrun and her parents live in Boston. Her mum does Boston parkrun but is on holiday on 7 September. What a small world and how running brings us all together
Its just incredible Sandi I’ve never been one to want to stand out, but being part of the C25kers club and today wearing running shoes, capris along with so many others made me feel special, although I did feel a fraud when a marshal said you made it, keep going and well done. 😂
Thanks Deals1, very relieved to know that my legs still work. The champers has just gone ☹️ but it was delish. One full day in Bath left and then up north and then to Ireland where your gorgeous poppies are getting another outing. ❤️ X
Thank you, I was impressed with so many people in France able to speak English, that I’m thinking of learning it when I get back home. Get the brain cells going again, meanwhile thank you Google Translate and I will do exactly as you say Franglaise 👍🏃♀️
I live in the mountains and no one speaks any English....still learning 2 years on but getting better..just go for it and dont be afraid to make mistakes...its,a beautiful language
Welcome to UK lexi and how great for you to run in Bath. It’s so beautiful . Along the canal is lovely too. Have a wonderful time and don’t eat to many bath buns. 😃
Thanks Dexy, it is gorgeous. I really wish we had stayed longer as we only had three nights there and one whole day was spent travelling. ☹️ We are now in Preston and basing ourselves here for 2 weeks, off on cousin’s barge Thursday, so maybe I’ll get a canal run in after all. So excited to be back 👍😀🏃♀️🏃♀️
