Congratulations Arthur on running your 5K today round Arthur's Seat, feel like saying that hill is named after you, lol, I hope you enjoyed your run today. That was the first of all those runs in Edinburgh this weekend. That is a lovely bling medal.

Lazy runner hack: all finishers in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival get the same T shirt regardless of event. You can run about in your new blue T shirt and everyone thinks you did the marathon but you actually only did the 5k 😂

Well let them think that you ran the marathon except here on C25K/Bridge to 10K, here we are all honest people, no one here would say they ran a marathon when they only ran a 5K, once again, well done Arthur, I suppose there were many people who ran the 5K round Arthur's Seat, you never know how many graduates🎓from C25K Healthunlocked who ran today unless they report it here. 😊 🏃

1249 ran the 5k last year. No figures for this year yet but I thought it looked more than that. The uphill bit was really hard because it was so crowded that maintaining a steady pace, even if it was a slow one, was well nigh impossible. The feeling of release once the course turned downhill was amazing though and I broke my mile, km and half mile PRs in the final stretch.

👍 Well done 🏃

It was indeed more. 1499 runners in the 5k. I was 703rd and I’m pleased as Punch about that as I rarely finish in the top half the field for a 5k.

Congratulations Arthur, well done on your 703rd place, if you round up the number of people who took part to 1500, if you were half way that would be 750, so that is wonderful news that you finished in the top half of the field of runners.

Go celebrate with whatever you like. 😊

Yes it is! So thank you for doing so! 🏅🏅

That’s some medal - very very well done. 👏👏👏 I hope you enjoyed every moment, and you can spend the remainder of the weekend relaxing. You certainly deserve to! Well done Arthur. 🏃👍👏🎉🏅

Well Done Arthur, it’s got to be done. You can now bask in the glory. I can imagine running in Edinburgh includes up hills . 🏃‍♂️👏👏🏅

The 5k and 10k do. The marathon and half marathon are famously fast because they start downhill to the coast and then are flat after that. But the 5k I did is basically a lap of Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park. There is a long climb from 1k to 2k and a shorter one around 3k, but from 3.5k it’s downhill all the way. I was nearly three minutes outside my PB yet I broke my mile PR - in the LAST mile, because it was downhill. Easy way to get negative splits!

I knew there was a reason I opted for the half marathon.....🤔....well done Arthur, 👏👍

our day is going to be a bit damper than yours....🌧☔️....

I’m not up to half marathons yet but I’m told you have to be mentally prepared at Musselburgh (around 9 miles) because you pass the finish but still have some miles to run. Probably the sort of thing that matters less if you’re prepared for it. And spare a thought for the marathon runners who not only pass the finish at the same point but can actually see half marathoners finishing, due to the half starting two hours earlier.

Thanks for the tip......I’m used to seeing the front runners already well on their way back too....9-10 miles is always a bit of a tough point....but, you just have to go with the flow....

It looks like the weather will be improving for the marathoners.....

Hi Arthur, I tried to tag you in my post on the ‘marathon and race support forum’ .......that 9 mile point was interesting! You can’t actually see the finish, so you don’t realise it’s just near that corner.....so you’re going along looking at the runners on their way back, looking at your watch, thinking, oh the turn must be soon, all you can see is a sea of people in front of you.....then you see a crowd, DJ etc., and think, there it is! Errrr no.....keep going, .....then you see a water station, and think, ah there it is! .......errr no.....keep going......so 2 miles later.....the turn! .....it’s such a feeling of relief to get round that corner! For the marathoners they run out from 9 to 17 miles looking at people on their way back......that must be hard.

Really enjoyed the day, very glad we did it, highly recommended!

Ah, I’m not signed up to the race support forum so maybe that’s why you couldn’t tag me. Interesting info. I’m trying to decide, before the early bird discount deadline, whether to repeat the enjoyable 5k challenge next year or take a risk and try the 10 k (which has the same big hill at the start but also another, lesser but still significant one nearer the end.
