Good morning,

I’ve recently introduced myself to running whilst listening to a podcast!! It’s really helpful in trying to zone out (I know I’m behind in this revelation 😂🤦‍♀️🦖 )

I’ve been listening to:-

The Not Your average runner Podcast by Jill Angie - she’s all about body image and positive behaviours.

Can anyone recommend any?? Even if not running related.

Books 📚

I’m a big fan of reading and found since running it’s opened up s new genre, running has also made me manage my time better and sneak in half an hour of reading almost daily I’m getting through some inspiring books some directly related to running some just body positive,

Bryony Gordon - Eat Drink Run (I’d not started running when reading this, took the book back to the library and downloaded the C25K app the same day, this book is brilliant!)

Alexandra Heminsley - Running Like A Girl An inspirational read, this lady is amazing. Honest and amazing

Ruth Field - Run Fat B!£ch Run I think this book was meant to be very tongue in cheek, enjoyed the running tips but some of the techniques re body image are not for me, if your prepared to just pick out the helpful bits I’d recommend.

Caitlin Moran - How to be Famous (make sure you read how to build a girl first) not a running book but there’s a chapter towards the end I couldn’t get through without closing the book and going outside and getting my legs working and it’s a wonderful book if your an ageing indie chick 🤣🤦‍♀️.

Fiona Gibson - Mum on the run, I read this years ago but the messages re running stook with me it just took me a couple of decades to act on them.

Again can anyone recommend any, running focused or not 🐛 📚 📖

Thank you, have a great day and happy running ☺️

X

Vassos Alexander has written a couple of books about his ultra-running: I have only read samples as yet but they read well. I enjoyed Hannah E Phillips No Run Intended (and the follow-up Run Intended). If you enjoyed Bryony Gordon these are similar: a girl in the Welsh Valleys who enjoys her wine and junk food a bit too much and swears a lot. Easy reading and funny if you aren’t bothered about the fruity language 🤣 She is also doing a lot of good work on body image and establishing social running 👍

Run Pod with Jenny Falconer is REALLY good! And the Runners World UK podcast. For running books, I liked Your Pace or Mine by Lisa Jackson, and the two books by Vassos Alexander - really good! If you have Netflix, check out The Barkley Marathons movie - compelling!

Happy listening/reading/running!
