Who’d have thunk it

Only started C25K in December, 1st Parkrun in February and now 1st official 10K in the Liverpool Spring 10K. I can officially say that I’m hooked. Going from 5 to 10K wasn’t a massive step up - just meant that the toxic 10 was a smaller part of my run. Just wish that the next step up wasn’t so big, I mean, half marathon........ seems like a totally different kettle of fish to me. Any ideas what sort of timescale I should set myself for the next step?

Wow, well done. You rally have run off into the distance and left me standing!! We went through the C25K together and graduated around the same time, now you are thinking about a half marathon and I’m still struggling to get past 7k!! Good for you, happy running 🏃‍♂️

Yeah, but I’m stupid! If you can do 7k you can do 10k, just slow it down a touch and add an extra k to one run a week and you’ll soon find that you can do 10k at a quicker pace than you originally ran 5K.

Round and about there are some 10 mile races. That might give you a target before the HM if you can find one near you. 😄

Excellent running K8nno, perhaps a few more 10Ks then ten miles before you run a half marathon, you have made wonderful progress since you began C25K last December, well done, onwards and upwards. 😊 🏃

Kinda forgot about 10 miles...... Certainly more achievable than HM for now. Now I’m looking at maps and thinking “Wow, 10 miles is quite a decent distance!”

10 miles is an incredible distance to run! I wonder what percentage of the population could, hand on heart, say "yeah, I can run 10 miles"!

I'm still working up to 10k, so I don't have any advice I'm afraid, but I wanted to thank you for posting... I'm a few steps behind you on the path but trundling along in the same direction. :)

I know what you mean about the jump from 5k to 10k not seeming huge... I seem to have got up to 8k without really trying at all. :)

Great south run is 10 miles in Portsmouth in October . Fairly flat too.

It’s so true what they say about it being a mental challenge as well as a physical one. I had nothing left in the tank after this 10k but probably because my younger brother (who’d just ran the London Marathon!) paced me to just a bit quicker than I’d gone without him. Reckon if I’d reduced the pace a bit I could have done a bit more.

Brilliant, well done K8nno and what an epic photo! 😀😀🏃🏃

I did my first official race this weekend too, the Bristol 10k. It was incredible - isn’t it addictive? You could go for 10 miles next maybe?

C25K is The Best! ❤️

Looking good K8nno. Be proud of that 1st official 10k. Loved mine in Bristol too.
