Set off last night after work for my long run of the week. Did 10k - the first one since the beginning of April
BUT NOOOO! I was expecting a nice dry if not cloudy evening run, but just before i set off to get ready (at work - so kit packed this morning) the heavens opened ๐ light showers they were not! So i had to go out in just my t-shirt and leggings ๐คทโโ๏ธ but the weather was not going to be an excuse!
The downside was that i had bought my ultraboosts for the run today and they seem to soak up water like a sponge - they soaked it whilst it rained and they soaked it up whilst I ran despite my best attempts to dodge the obvious puddles ๐
So 1.5km in and my feet are proper wet...but by this point i don't care, I was on a mission to get 10k and nothing was gonna stop me so off you plod gremlins.
I set the challenge of finishing the run by going up a hill - because i knew the down would be great before i completed. This is the kind of hill that is mildly steep but long - you know the one where if you were on a bus you can hear the engine grind as it climbs ๐ฃ - i thought i may not make it - what i learnt is that by striking with my heel and powering off that way i got up it quite quick and the legs seemed to appreciate that. The down was such a relief, it was like no effort was required at all
I had a really good run despite the rain, pace was great, breathing was on point and when it stopped raining i got dried by the wind haha! Was super pleased with the run, equally pleased with my boosts despite their sogginess. They may get more outings now the ball of foot heat spots they were giving me have significantly reduced.
My socks were completely soaked when i got the shoes off, i could almost wring them out ๐คฃ
Happy running everyone
