9 days have passed since the heat nearly did for me at the North Tyneside 10k and this was the first run since then.
I seem to have slipped out of the habit of running regularly and really must make the effort to get out more often.
The long lay off certainly showed tonight, the legs felt heavy from the start and I had zero ooomph.
However I did at least manage to keep going although the last 3k was painful.
A week and a half to go until the Sunderland HM, I think I need to fit in a long one over this weekend and a gentle 10k next week and hopefully that will be enough prep to see me round.
One consolation for my struggles this evening was the signs of summer everywhere, blossom all over the hedges, my first Swallow of the summer perched on a telegraph wire and chiffchaff, willow warbler and a blackcap amongst others calling excitedly from the bushes.
Run happy, run safe.
