Well, after two and a half weeks of rest and lots of rolling, stretching and sitting on a tennis ball(!), I ventured out for a short 'test run' this afternoon. Just 3.5k and keeping to a comfortable pace. Glad to report, my knees felt so much better and I really enjoyed being back out there again. Speaking to a friend at work (who ran in the Brighton Marathon last week - what a star!), I do think that maybe it is IT band/glute related. I have a physio session booked for Wednesday, when I'm sure the lovely lady who has helped me in the past, will offer me greater insight in to what I have done and what I need to do, to avoid being on the injury couch again! Happy running this weekend everyone.π

Good luck on Wednesday Sandra. You know Iβm learning about bits of the anatomy that Iβd never heard of before running. Are you doing clamshells for glutes too? Do let us know how you get on. πββοΈπ«
So glad you can see a light at the end of the tunnel Sandra. Hope all goes well on Wednesday! π€π€
Phew... so glad you are out there again and feeling it is all easier, knee wise!
That bodes well Sandra, fingers crossed. I think weβve shared notes before on our IT bands.
I found a great article on trigger points around the knee for ITB and will search it out for you but Iβm sure your lady will sort it, fingers crossed.
Love the image! xxx
Did you find the article at all? Iβve got ITB problems and would be interested to read it!
No I can't find it but I'll keep looking! If it's any help, the point is on the outside of the knee about 10cms from the knee cap and in a bit. Sorry if that's absolutely no use at all but if you play around on a roller or ball you'll soon find it π©
Right thanks will give it a try!
Found it! This is a really good site for us runners!
Best wishes for Wednesday. Let us know how you get on. Iβve been resting my left knee since Tuesday.
Good luck for Wednesday. Iβm sure theyβll help you out.
For maximum discomfort you can upgrade from a tennis ball to a hockey ball - my current recommended tool of torture ππ
As I'm currently in the same boat as sandraj39 I'm following this thread closely. I'm intrigued to know what the tennis/hockey ball scenario entails?????
Iβve been told to sit on it to massage the piriformis muscle. One of many exercises and stretches Iβve been given to try and fix my knee issues (pain in knee above about 8k).
Love the poster! I hope your physio can find you a quick cure. Glad the test run was a success.
Hope the physio builds on your improvement π
Glad to hear that you have been out for a run, best wishes for continued improvement ππ
Glad to hear they are feeling better. I hope your physio session goes well.
