Hi guys, I cannot seem to fathom out the average pace on Strava!!?? π I would've thought higher the numbers the faster you're running, but today I ran 3.36km as my short run and felt that I was a bit of a turbo snail π but my average pace was 6.31km/hr???? Slower than my longer run!? Also haven't a clue what elevation relates to? I know I am just being a bit thick!! π€ͺ any clarification greatly appreciated π

I have to say before I started running i hadnβt really thought about pace, as most of the time we think in speed in everyday life. So youβre not being thick at all.
Your pace is showing you how long it takes you to run a set distance, in this case a kilometre. On your run it took you on average 6.45 to run each kilometre. The faster you go the pace number comes down.
This is opposite to speed which is how much distance you would cover in a set time, typically an hour. Your speed would be just under 9km per hour. As you get faster this goes up.
So if your pace was 6mins per km (lower) you would be running at a speed of 10km per hour (higher) - and overall youβre then faster. Iβm not sure if that helps or just makes it even less clear. ππ
Not quite sure how Strava calculates the elevation number but I think itβs adding up the metres you have climbed on your run - I think it ignores downhill so should be total height climbed but not totally sure.
Yes, itβs telling you 6 minutes 45 seconds per k, not 6.45 kph.
Lower pace faster speed ...
For me avg 7.20 is fast
Slower might be 8.5
If you do 6.0 av pace then 5 x 6 is 30 so it would be a 30 minute parkrun
Thank you for asking that question Millief, I have been really struggling with it too! Makes sense now, thank you!
