I last ran my local park run back in October last year and my PB was just under 28 minutes. Since then I have been running 3 times a week round the local streets, on my own, not really bothering about going fast but concentrating more on increasing the distance. I was aware that I had slowed down and thought I wouldn’t be able to match my parkrun time again. 🐌
Fast forward to today, a lovely morning to get back in to the parkrun groove. South Woodham is a lovely out and back course along the River Crouch and very flat. I only went and knocked over a minute off my best time. Official time 26:33. Unfortunately Strava didn’t register it as my best 5k because it measured it just short. 🏃♂️
I would never have run this pace round the streets on my own. It just goes to show the magic of parkrun works wonders.

Fantastic and many congratulations. We would have been running together. I got a new Parkrun PB too, 26:30 and just like you it was 4.99 km so did not register as a 5K PB on my Garmin watch. Well done.
According to my Garmin I got to 4.98k. Not sure why there should be a difference once uploaded to Strava it’s all the same data. Not worth worrying about though, I’ll take the PB.
