First parkrun since beginning of June

Last year was my toughest and being pushed out of hospital in a wheelchair was heartbreaking.....the consultant did say I'd run again but it would take a long time. He was right! So Mudita11 came to visit and we'd agreed to be tailwalkers at Lowestoft parkrun.

I hadn't set an alarm for 6am, but having been woken really early by my demon cat I reset it for 6.30am and I was just dozing off when it went off

I used the satnav to get to Claremont pier and she said turn left so we did and suddenly we were driving along the prom....whoops, we did get some funny looks, turned round and found the entrance to the car park.

A very welcoming RD and team of volunteers and after the team talk, walk to the start, another talk and off we went!

We weren't quite sure who was at the back, in front of us, we asked one couple but no they were just walking their dog .

We never caught the back of the pack.....but we kept going and came in at just under the hour.

We had a great time, it's a lovely course, the slopes are longer than my local one and I need to practice because I was really puffing at the top, we did a few slow trots but never caught the walkers up, it's a bunch of fast people there .

So I have a benchmark time to beat 😁.

I decided I look like an elephant....time to stop eating everything just because I can 🤣

Run happy all or rest well xx

Great to see you back at parkrun with Mudita11 SueAppleRun . 2024 was not good to you, but you have got through it and 2025 will be so much better.

Don’t forget, when you are up to it , c25k can be done all over again.

Well done. I wasn’t a parkrunner, did my first one 3 months after my surgery (2xPCI, CABG and AVR in June 23). My PB is 10 minutes faster than my first effort round the course so it is possible to work up a decent level of fitness. Oh, my age grade is 46%, not amazing but at least I’m out there exercising. I remain in awe of the times the serious folk put in but realise I can but dream of finishing much better than I do.

I'm delighted you got to parkrun SueAppleRun , and you look healthy and happy, not fat! Though those Tailwalker jackets are wildly unflattering, they'd turn a young Kate Moss into a sack of spuds. 🥔🥔🥔

Oh so complimentary Cmoi, I'm not sure I'll now go every week but it is good fun

Tailwalking can be interesting when you’re in a busy area such as a prom - working out who’s in parkrun and who’s just walking can be a challenge, as I found out when doing it myself! But it’s so good to have you back in the fold after all you’ve been through in the last year or so and it looks as though you and Mudita11 had a good time! I hope 2025 treats you well!

Thank you, we really enjoyed it, we came in a few minutes after the last walkers but I will get fitter and stronger 😄 and yes it is a challenge to work out who's who as the sun was shining there were quite a few walkers,

Brilliant! Well done Sue! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌟

I may actually run my first 5k since last April later this month…but as a “not park run”…find it hard to be anywhere at 9am! 🙄
