I’ve been following the nhs Bridge to 10k App for the last couple of weeks and on Sunday I was awake nice and early, really felt like a run and thoroughly enjoyed my run -week3 run2.
Should have run yesterday but woke up with an aching shoulder and hip so I procrastinated all day - thinking maybe I’d even christen my treadmill in the evening if I loosened up ... but didn’t and went to bed a bit annoyed with myself.
Then today I waited in all morning for a delivery that didn’t arrive, a friend who was coming for coffee just after 11...who didn’t come and ended up texting at 1.00pm, putting it off till another day. 😡
Then I’d eaten and don’t like running on a full stomach, so I walked into town and did a few errands, then came back and had my evening meal and my son popped in between work and a meeting and I was chatting to him and then I suddenly thought “ it’s no good I need to run!!”. I caught the last of the sunshine but it was still quite chilly - I didn’t even take my jacket off partway through like I usually do. I really wasn’t feeling much like running- lack of sleep last night- bit dehydrated...And I thought I’d take a different route for a change just to mix it up.
Stupidly I thought I’d run into the wind in first half and turn round and get the easier run on the way back.... unfortunately the wind was the other way round today and the first half was a bit of a struggle ...... but the second half, when I turned round and I realised that I was against the wind on the way back, was even worse. I felt like I was really slow and my Garmin watch was being a bit odd too. I glanced at it at one point and it flipped from 10.45min/km to 6.05 to 7.45 in a matter of seconds and as far as I could see I was running in time to the beat so should have been a steady pace. Think it must have been a glitch.
Anyway it made a nice change to run a different route and suddenly there I was coming to the end. 53.02 mins ( I can never stop it dead on). So I uploaded to my phone and went into the shower.
Strangely when i came out and checked it I had run exactly the same distance in exactly the same time and pace as my lovely run in Mother’s Day!!! How weird!!!! My pace varied considerably from km to km and I got 3 new PBs too.
Fastest mile, km and 400ms.
So all in all I’m glad I dragged myself out there. Week 4 here I come!! 😬
