First holiday run at last, thought it couldn't get any better than this...and then it did!

Last October I was thwarted in my first holiday run plans with ankle problems. I have been so excited about it this time and last week we had a few days at the seaside again. The coastal path each way was just lovely with varied surfaces and all good. Bits of rocky path, a couple of fields but dry and solid ground with no mud, a lovely little quiet lane alongside a river and a trig point overlooking lovely long beaches to scramble up to that felt impressive but was really just a teeny hill! I was just tootling along feeling on top of the world in the morning sunshine taking deep breaths of that lovely welsh sea air and thinking that it really doesn't get any better than this....and then...I crossed a little bridge over a grubby stream with steep banks and saw 2 kingfishers leaving a nest in the bank a few feet away and flying off up the stream! Sigh! Almost made me cry with happiness!

Having successfully negotiated to alter our usual holiday habit of long lingering lazy breakfasts in order to do this I was entirely guilt free that my running wasn't getting in the way of 'our' time which we're quite considerate about. He went off and spent ages pottering around the beach and enjoying the early morning air just as much as I enjoyed my runs.

Because it was all guilt free and we were both so happy, for the first time I ran 3 consecutive days and 6km each day very slowly and carefully and it felt okay. I'll not be making a habit of this but I think for future holidays I will. It was absolutely amazing.

I really noticed the traffic fumes running back at home this morning! haha!

That sounded idyllic HS! And what a bonus to see kingfishers. ❤️ You certainly had incredible weather, and that always helps. ☀️

3 x 6k is great for holiday running too. Well done! Bet you spent the whole week happy! 😀

It was a brilliant few days. Always love Wales whatever the weather! Lovely scenic drives on the day of arrival and departure too. I can’t believe how much we crammed in and yet how relaxing it was too. Already have another booking for autumn and now I know how well it works I will take enough clean clothes next time haha!

Oh happy, that sounds like bliss, I adore kingfishers, but to see a pair, how wonderful. Those "tootles" along the coast path, I can see how you'd want to do it every day 😊
