Beautiful York ❤️❤️

Have ventured up to York with work for a few days and after a 6 hr drive I pulled my running gear on ( seems to go everywhere with me now) and trotted off. What a beautiful, stunning place to be. Did the most lovely sunny 6k run along the river. Hoping to venture out again Wednesday and see a little bit more. Wish I knew my way round a bit more though. Happy Running everyone. 😀

It's a great place. You could run up one side of the river and back on the other side. You won't be alone 😉

Ah that’s exactly what I did 😀. There were so many people out too which made it feel safe.

I am going to York in a couple of months time so would be interested in the route for this, where do you cross the river? I am staying at the Rowntree Park Caravan site so a river run sounds really good 😉

Lots of bridges. Google will show you 😉

Yes I see that from my os map

, just wondering if their was a “best route” I wasn’t very clear 🙄

Not sure of a best route. I had no idea where I was going so just ran down one side and up the other. There were a few times I navigated some steps but it was fine. I am staying up by train station if that helps you see where I started from.

Yes thank you that helps

You could buy a paper map of York 🤔

I know it's old fashioned but you will find your way around so much easier

Plus battery doesn't die 😊

Best one I have seen is

York City Centre map

A map by Andrew Taylor £4.99

Railway museum is worth a visit especially if it's raining , plus it's free

Millennium Bridge (no cars allowed ) which will take you across to other side of river ,

How nice to have somewhere new to run, and no worries about having to cook dinner afterwards. So long as you avoid the cobblestones of The Shambles you should be OK. If you run enough you can treat yourself at Betty’s tearooms.

Those cobbles are everywhere 😀 and yes Betty’s is on my list fingers crossed.

Sounds lovely Wimborne, a run along the river in York, a beautiful place. One trip to the UK I visited York and climbed the Minster steps, beyond me now, but worth the effort for that view. 🙂

Am hoping to get to the minster tomorrow. I will climb those steps for both of us. 😀

Clever you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Isn’t the view from the top gorgeous? Do they still give you a certificate for doing it?

Not that I could tell? It was very early though.

Gorgeous Wimborne - not that I’ve been to York, but I’ve heard great things and the fact that you’ve now there warrants it! 😀

Hope you enjoy your next run. It’s fun running whilst winging it a bit isn’t it? 😀

Yep winging it completely but a lovely winging it. I am determined to come back for a few days without needing to work. So much to see but so little time. Work just gets in the way as always.

I live about 10 miles outside York and am ashamed to say that I have never run in the city. I have added it to my list! Enjoy yourself, it is a great way to explore a new place :)

You must try it. It’s a bit like Frogger ( that shows my age )running round people and bycicle dodging but very beautiful.

in reply to Wimborne

Frogger! I had forgotten all about that! If you have time to explore further, there are some beautiful trails around the Castle Howard estate (you don't have to pay to get in) that are great to run on (appreciate you are supposed to be working:) )

Sounds lovely. It’s funny that I don’t explore where I live much. Hoping the lighter nights will motivate me to run Poole harbour or along Bournemouth beach front. There great woodlands too and the purbecks all on my doorstep. I started in September so darker nights have been a difficulty. But I will have no excuses soon. Here comes the light !!!!!!

I’m in Leeds so Castle Howard is very do-able. Quite fancy some trails maybe this summer. Thank you for the tip
