Parkrun fun

Hi all, I wasn’t sure where to post as I’ve still not run further than 5km! Anyway I just wanted to write about my 2nd parkrun. Despite telling myself I wouldn’t try too hard - I did and ran my fastest 5km! 32.06mins! But boy do I know it today . Whoops. So am rolling out my legs now. In particular left Achilles also top of quads. Any advice on recovery? Thanks guys !

Yes you 'paid' for that great time you achieved at yesterday's parkrun, all you can do is rest and no more runs until it heals, congratulations for a great time.

What a brilliant time CatMo!! Fantastic! My son uses Epsom bath salts for soar muscles. I just use them to relax 😁. I imagine the usual advice of plenty of hydration helps too. Well done. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️

Love a Parkrun! Nothing wrong with 5k. At some point everyone on here had got as far as 5k. You’re consolidating. 32 minutes is good, well done. Be proud of yourself. Build on that base. Good luck, keep going! You’ll be on your first 10k before you know it and then..............?😊

Thanks Katiepops I guess if I build up the miles I will slow down a bit as I couldn’t keep that pace up for long. Even though I know it’s not super fast, but to me it is 😬

Hah thanks Jan - well for me it is fast but in my age group I came 3rd out of 3 so there are some fast runners out there! I was thinking of a little recovery run today ... just a gentle one. But maybe I should stick to walking for another day ?
