Parkrun fun

[Katiepops]

Just a quickie! This morning instead of running our local Parkrun, I marshalled it! What fun. Great team with lots of laughs and 140 runners all saying thank you. Highly recommend it! You can, like me, then go and run it anyway although it’s not official.

Nice thing to support I think.😊

I have marshalled many times and it certainly is great fun!

Definitely recommended, especially if you are unsure what parkrun is all about, before running it yourself.

Well done Katiepops , parkrun cannot work without the volunteers, and it’s nice to give something back.

I tailwalked today with an elderly lady who was a first timer and we came in at 59:56

So do I . She kept apologising for being slow so I said that the parkrun founder would be really pleased that a lady in her 80s was doing it today. Her daughter was running with her dog; she does triathlons and she thought her mum should do it.

Well done. I like to Volunteer once every 5 runs. I’m a marshal next week as I’m running a 10K on Sunday. Volunteers are so important, without them there is no Parkrun. I always make a point of saying thanks.

I usually gasp out a thanks to the marshalls. Except the one at the bottom of killer hill where I was yesterday! That’s where the fun part of our Parkrun ends. 1.5 down and 1.5 back up again.😬

Fantastic KP, well done for volunteering. It’s great fun isn’t it? Almost as much fun as running, and I make sure I volunteer once a month. 😀 My favourite role is barcode scanning. 👍

Oh Lordy! I wouldn’t want to be any kind of manager! The responsibility of getting someone’s time wrong or not measuring the distance! Eek.😂

It sounds scarier than it is!! Basically just need to make sure everyone stays in order over the line to collect the bar code. It was snowy when I did it... So not too maybe folk to funnel!! 😂😂
