...and it really was just what I needed today.๐ I took to my beautiful local trails knowing that after a night of rain, they would be sloshy and muddy and provide my legs with a good work out, (providing I could just stay upright)! After a rather disheartening run last weekend, my weekday pavement pounders were so much better but this was the one that mattered. The woody trails and local bridleways are where I feel most at home with my running and as a child of spring (April born), it is these blustery, wet runs that I seem to find the most uplifting. I am still building my distance back up after a rubbish winter of illness and today was the first day where I forgot about the slog, and the gremlins, and the "omg! I am so unfit" refrain in my head and just...found my happy space again!๐๐ฝโโ๏ธโค๏ธ๐. I ran and I slipped ๐ฎ and I splashed. Ok, I did a LOT of splashing - once your feet are wet they really don't get any wetter! Lovely to see all the sheep and the early daffs and just feel so relaxed on a run! With all the rain, the tracks were very quiet apart from a couple of dog walkers, so I felt like I had the world to myself for a short while. It was only 6.5k but it was a very special one and we all need runs like that don't we? Happy running!๐

Well done Sandra, I totally get you, there really is something about the reallness of a windy muddy slippy sloppy run ๐ค
That sounds like so much fun! Nothing like embracing your inner child ๐
You do like your sploshing and splishing Sandra ๐๐ค Sounds lovely.
Fabulous! I haven't got the hang of running though mud and puddles yet, I deperately try to avoid them whih adds miles to some towpath runs I'm sure Good to hear you're enjoying your running again
Sounds wonderful! Sorry to hear that you have had a winter of illness. Glad you are back out there - enjoy your runs ๐
That sounds like a really fun run ๐ glad you enjoyed it โ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Sounds like a real treat - though can't say I share your love of muddy puddle splashing running!
Am ready for some lovely spring sunshine now ๐โโ๏ธ๐.
Sounds idyllic Sandra! ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ Youโre right, once youโre wet, youโre wet, so who cares how much wetter you or your feet get? I think itโs more exhilarating somehow. I got drenched on my short 4k run on Thursday and absolutely loved it!
Your run sounded just the ticket. Hereโs to many more just like it. โค๏ธ
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Sandra. Yep, when your shoes and socks get wet and can't get any wetter, then you may as well splash and splosh in any puddle you can find. That's great to hear that you are back to fitness and running happily.
Sounds perfect!
