Roseabi here, standing in for the lovely Ju-Ju, who as many of you know is currently working hard on a very cool new challenge at work!
I must apologise for missing a post last week, and I just hope I've got my sums right because I believe you are now just starting...
THE FINAL WEEK OF THE MAGIC 10 10K PLAN!!!! πππ
How have you all been doing? I see that some of you have already hit 10k, well done!!!
This week's runs are:
β 4 km
β 5 km
β 10 km - congratulations!!!
Or if you're running timed runs:
β 20 mins
β 30 mins
β 60 mins - congratulations!!!
Last week your strength workout was a 'Balance Bonanza', so I thought I would re-post the final video from the previous Magic 10, where Ju-Ju talks about balance:
And since it's a Christmas video there are some nice colourful lights in there, which go rather nicely with THIS week's workout/celebration:BOOGIE!!!!!
Going to start Week 8 on Sunday. Completed Week 7 today after a 10-day gap since last run. Man, that 9K was hard! But I completed it, and am looking forward (I think ππ¬) to Week 8.
Hope everyone is enjoying their running. Thanks for the Magic 10 programme - it's really helped me to achieve some longer distances. πππββοΈ
Hi Roseabi and Ju-Ju, Iβm going to do the 9k for the first time next week! It was going to be yesterday but I am going to do my first park run on Saturday and want my legs to feel a bit βfresherβ than I think they will feel after doing 9k ππ
Hi Roseabi final week starts tomorrow for me. Planning to do the 60 minutes on Wednesday. Long way off actually doing 10k but thatβs the next challenge. Thank you for keeping us motivated. ππ»ββοΈπ
Hi roseabi and ju-ju. After doing the 2 x 8k weeks I have fallen a little behind. I was feeling tired on the longer runs, then found out my ferritin had dropped to a rather pitiful 4. So I took a weeks rest, have had some intravenous iron and have been out today for a little jogette. Am going to build back up now. Iβll cross the bridge later than planned, but Iβll get there πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Completing week 8 tomorrow with the Two Tunnels 10K in Bath. I have done 10K twice - on the 9K runs (I got carried away!) - so very excited for tomorrow.
Magic 10 has been brilliant - I never would have thought I'd be running a 10K when I started C25K back in October.
You'll want to take it a bit easier this week, and definitely take Saturday off! Most people find it helpful to do a couple of easy runs in the last few days before a race - keeps the legs moving π
I actually really enjoy the long runs now I just didn't have time this weekend due to 3 kids birthday party's! I managed a muddy 7k this morning but hopefully will get in a 2nd 10k some time this week
I am so way behind I shall have to start again with the next one!
I strained my calf doing the Christmas Day parkrun and have only just got back into the trainers. As I felt totally lacking in confidence I re-started very slowly by using one run from each week of C25k, and am so pleased to be able to report that today I felt able to, and actually did 4.9k, although it was quite slow, but with no walk breaks. And I did it, so Iβll do another couple and then jump back onto the JuJu plan when next launched. (I had made a New Years resolution to do a sub 35 minute parkrun. Still a way to go, but I do have 10 months left still!)
I will be with you too, on the next round, as I had to abandon the Magic plan some 4 weeks ago due to a damaged ligament in my knee.
I was crying with pain when it happened, and I now see my soul was also hurting with the frustration of having to interrupt my challenge, but hey-ho. Better let it heal well as a bit of patience now, seems to be the best investment for the days ahead.
I have fallen behind due to half term and children bein off the following two weeks :(. I am restarting from week 1 so will join you on the next schedule. Do you know when it is. I will keep a look out xx
Hello Roseabi, I completed W5R3 before going down with a lowsy cold and then flew off on a skiing trip. So I hadnβt run for over 3 weeks before I ran my parkrun this morning.
Iβm not sure what distance I will achieve on Monday but if I run with the wind behind me it will improve my chances. Maybe UpTheStanley can follow me on his bike and then give me a Croggy back home. πββοΈ π΄
It must be a West Country term for giving a ride on your bike. Think Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with Robert Redford doing the cycling and was it Ali McGraw having the lift? Sadly, UTS and I wouldnβt look quite so glam!
