Hello everyone and welcome to week 6 of the 10 is the magic number 10k Plan. How are you all doing? How are you finding planks, squats and jumps? I’m on a residential training course in Leeds and it’s really full on, so apologies I haven’t been on here much !
Did the 55minuterun today. It was actually 56.5 but I managed 6k in that time. Very pleased with that. Haven’t seemed to have time for planks etc this week but will be back on it tomorrow.
I cannot believe that I have actually run 8k twice! Yesterday’s run was actually most enjoyable even tho I set out with a feeling of I don’t think I can do this today 😊 I hope your training course is going well and you can squeeze in some runs. I almost believe I can do this now 😃😃
Sadly it's not 😔. Four 30 ish minute runs fine, then today I thought I'd do a longer run about 45 minutes, but ¾ of the way through my hamstring didn't ping, like when my injury first happened, but it is clearly not how it should be. Patience required.
Oh no! I thought you were healed! I think you’re right though it’s about being patient so that it doesn’t go back to square one. My hip still protests a bit after a longer run so I let it have its own way and leave at least two days until the next run! I hope it doesn’t take too long until you are able to do the longer runs again 🏃🏼♀️
Thanks Bridget. I'll do my best to be patient and alter my running plans accordingly. Not long for the big 10 now! I expect those lovely admin folk are preparing the bunting, podium and medal as we speak!! Keep injury free and have fun! 🏃🏻♀️😊
Lol! Ha, ha, ha 🤣🤣🤣 That would be lovely, but I really am not up to 10k races or even 5k at the moment. And I'm in Derbyshire not Ireland! Which I think is where you and the next race are! I hope it goes really well. Is it on Sunday?
Hey ju-ju, holding in there and injury free so far (shh) and loving it! 😀 Running a week behind due to some manic work schedules but somehow, and not wishing to get ahead of myself completed a 9.7k run last week. It wasn't intentional but I've joined some colleagues for a weekly social run after work to get my distance runs in. We only go as fast as the slowest person (guess who) but its been good fun and you don't notice the distance. Will reign it in a little as I want to complete the Bridge this time around. 😁
good luck with the course, hope you're getting a chance for some runs inbetween. Getting a bit nervous about the route of my 10K race as it's a little hillier than I'm used to, so going to get some hills in on today's 9K route.
Hi, after getting a PB at Parkrun on Saturday, I had been itching to get out and do my long run on Tuesday but with kids on half term it has been impossible to get out so this morning woke up early and went out for a run first thing before kids were up. I was intending to do a 9k but ended up doing a 10k my first one in a time of 1.05.08 which I am over the moon about. Loving the magic 10 experience and hoping to get under 30 minutes for 5k before my 50th parkrun which will be in 5 weeks. My PB on Saturday was 30.21 so it is clearly in sight and keeping me motivated.
Well done on your first 10k!! 🎓🍾🥂🏅👏🏻😊🎉👍☀️ 💥⚡️Massive congratulations! Enjoy your time on the podium and all the very best for your onward running journey! I trust that brilliant moment of sub 30 for 5k also comes your way soon. 😊 Don't forget to ask for your sparkly 10k badge!
Thanks for the encouragement and reminder about the badge. I am going to try my luck tomorrow at parkrun and see what happens. I hope your doing well on your running journey.
I've done 10k twice now and have week 8 left to hit it again. After that how much should I be increasing as I need to run 7 miles in may on what will likely be a hot day.
I've messed up the weeks as I run every other day. So got confused jumped to 9k to early.... but as I'd done 2 x 9k runs and I felt good this morning I went for it.
