I’ve been working my way through the bridge to 10k plan and got up to 9k on Saturday with a lovely run on the West Sussex. I’m finding that my old faithful shoes that have been perfectly good for 5k, are not up to longer distances. Think I’m going to have to give in and get gait testing etc. I’m just a bit skeptical of going to a shop and giving them open access to my debit card. Oh well. It’ll be a new experience!

It is definitely worth getting gait analysis done. The right running shoes will help you avoid injury.
If you're running cross country think about some trails.

Find a proper running shop as opposed to a general sports shop Karen and they will find the best shoes for you . There’s usually a choice of prices in the ones that are best suited. Local running clubs or people at parkrun might be able to suggest a good shop. Allow up to an hour and don’t forget to post a picture,

It’s money well spent. I have mine following a gait analysis. I only use them for running and have over 800 kilometres on them now. I’ll be going back to the same shop soon.
