Well I have reached Week 7 and completed the 4K and 5K - planning to do the 9K tomorrow. Have now been struck down by a filthy cold. (Just saying the other day "I never get colds...." πŸ˜•)

So I won't be doing the 9K tomorrow - can't breathe! And am going on holiday for a week (WITH A COLD) and so won't be running for a while.

Will be interested to see if I can pick up again where I left off in a week's time.

In the meantime, I hope all of your running is going well. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ˜€

As someone who's just recovering from a chesty cold, very frustrating JoP61! The run will be waiting for you when you return and a week isn't long enough to lose performance πŸ˜€

Thanks JonathanP - it is frustrating but to be honest I've started to feel a tad weary running every other day with these longer distances. So perhaps a week off is a good thing. I hope you recover quickly from your chesty cold. Looking forward to hearing about your next challenge! Will report back when I run again next week. πŸ‘πŸ˜€

Thanks - on the mend and (just) managed 5k today

Well done! Hope you continue to recover. I have had a restless night due to bunged up nose and sore throat, so running is definitely off the agenda! πŸ™

Hope you enjoy your holiday nevertheless - I'm sure some of that French wine will help! πŸ˜€

Rest. I hope you have a good holiday despite the cold. I picked straight back up after a week in the IC. I think you’ll be fine. If the cold doesn’t ravage you too much you might even find you come back stronger. I’ve found that after a test before too. Week 9 will be waiting for you when you get back so enjoy the break πŸ‘

Thanks! I am definitely resting. I think you're right about the benefits of having a break - I have found before that a week off did no harm and I actually ran more strongly when I started again. Hope your running is going well. πŸ‘πŸ˜€

Well that’s terrible timing when you’re just about to go on holiday! I hope you feel better really soon so you can enjoy your holiday and then when you get back you can really enjoy your run πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Thanks for your good wishes - I shall console myself with the thought of the lovely French food and wine that is waiting for me! πŸ₯‚πŸ₯

You’ll be fine Jo a rest will do you and your legs good. I had a week off running recently with only managing one 4km run of ju-ju’s plan and came back and did the 10k, relaxed and very snail like. 🐌 Have a great holiday. πŸ‘

Oh no, join the club JoP61. 🀧

I was planning on running intervals today, but came over all achy yesterday with an annoying tickly throat. I posted about it too (where would we be without our helpful VRBs? ❀️)

I’m not sure about you, but getting a cold is way more inconvenient than it used to be. I don’t blame you for not attempting your 9k though - that’s a long way to be feeling under the weather.

Rest up, and I hope you feel better soon. 🀞

Thanks for your good wishes. Must be something going about! As you say, the VRBs are great for keeping one's pecker up, if you know what I mean! Not being able to run is a pain - never thought I would ever find myself saying that, but what a difference a year makes. Hope you manage to get some running in despite your cold. Get well soon! πŸ€§πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Thanks Jo, yes our good old VRBs give such fabulous advice. 😍

I know what you mean about the difference between this year and last. I didn’t start running until June, so getting a cold was just a slight annoyance - nothing to impede plans! This year though ..... !

I intend to do parkrun. This cold isn’t going to floor me for that one. πŸ’ͺ I hope your few days’ rest help and you’re back on your feet again soon. πŸ€žπŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Thanks cheeky! Being a runner gives you different priorities, doesn't it? Best of luck with your parkrun - I'm sure you'll beat that cold! πŸ‘πŸ€žπŸ€žπŸ˜€

You need to rest and can pick up where you left off, or redo the last week, easy peasy.

I know just how you feel Jop61. Exactly the same thing happened to me before my holiday too, and I never get colds either. I didn’t run (running with a box of tissues, runny nose and sneezing, forget it!). I got straight onto medication and slayed it). A running break and holiday will have you refreshed for that 9k. Hope you feel better soon. πŸ€§πŸ˜·πŸ€’
