It was going too well

I havnt posted for a while. Thats because my wife and I were doing really well. 8k every other day hilly and loving it. We reduced our 5 k time from 38 mins at the end of c25k down to sub 30mins. All good.

Im also a morris dancer. Part of a dan e we do involves the back two dancers leapfrogging the four infront for the finish. These are done with the people being leapt standing upright. Ive done this for 30 years. This time however I landed with my left leg locked for some reason. There was a loud pop and excruciating pain and that was that.

Result of mri: snapped anterior cruciate ligament, torn meniscus and a compressed fracture if end of tibia.

So no running. More gym work than Ive ever done under a sports physio. Fast track knee clinic.

Ill keep you posted

I’m so sorry to hear that Trazj, it sounds really painful- who knew that Morris dancing could be dangerous! Wishing you well for a speedy return to both pursuits!

Thanks oldgirlruns

Sports physio is driving me hard with quad. Hams exercises, weighted lunges etc. Apparently if I build these up I may not need a cruciate. Otherwise it will be 12 months rehab post op.

It makes me realise that I should have been doing these exercises as well as running.
