If you have any interest in running, sport in general or just the human spirit then this is a must watch.

Its an hour long documentary about Eliud Kipchoges attempt to run a marathon in under 2 hours.

Yes it does come across at times as a Nike advert and yes of course the conditions were staged (it wasn't a race but Kipchoge and other's following a bike around a track) but it is riveting and moving viewing.

Kipchoge himself comes across not just as possibly the greatest sports person of all time (now there's an argument!!! ) but a wise and gentle human being.

Watch it and be moved.

A couple of quotes from the great man himself:

"In life, the idea is to be happy. So I believe in a calm, simple, low profile life. You live simple, you train hard and live an honest life. Then you are free".

"100% of me is nothing compared to 1% of the whole team. That is team work, that is what I value".

A final thought, somewhere in East Africa the child has already been born who will run the distance in 1 hour 55....

Hi Chris, isn’t it amazing? I found myself quite emotional when Kipchoge spoke. He seems an exceptional man in more ways than just his running. I recently read ‘Born to Run’ and there was quite a bit in that about the mentality of running as a pack with your friends and family, and loving others, as being the key to successful long-distance running. I saw echoes of that in Kipchoge.

Have you seen the Fiona Oakes film documentary, ‘Running for Good’? Also well worth watching and much to admire.

Great docu! Just watched it. Kipchoge is clearly a running god and just a really simple honest bloke too. Amazing. Thanks for the heads up.
