Hi all - so I’ve been training for a 10k which is in 4 weeks time and everything was going great.... until I managed to fall over onto my knees on concrete (ouch!) 😖
Knees are bruised and were swollen but not too bad to begin with so I carried on my training. Since then one knee is completely fine but the other one has become very painful. Still bruised and painful, feels like toothache in my knee if that makes any sense at all. Also feel a bit like it’s bending too far. So what do I do now? Do I carry on training and hope it gets better or should I see a doctor or just rest for a few days?
Please help. Any advice gratefully received 🙂

Hello, that sounds nasty, if I were you I would go and see a sports physio and see what they advise. I wouldn't push on without that advice as you may make it worse. I am a complete hypocrite for these sorts of things as I know I would try to push on, just trying to be sensible about it though...
I agree with Visionon Jen😯...don't run in pain. Rest!
Elevate and Ice it too... (wet a tea towel and freeze it then wrap it around your knee)
Seek medical advice, there is probably swelling and a reason for the pain, a sports physio ( some proper running shops have sports therapists on site) or your doctor will be able to see whats happening with it.
So sorry, that fall must have hurt!😦Its done now though, fingers crossed that it recovers in the next few weeks so that you can still do your race, but if not there will be others. Good luck😙 xx
I am not an expert in any way but having had knee injuries: Rest it! Ice it! If it really is bending too far go and see a doc. If it doesn’t get better after a few days of ice and rest go see a doc. Someone on this forum the other day said a brisk walk is a good test for seeing if you feel any niggles and are ready to resume gentle jogging after an injury... sorry, so frustrating for you 😬
Oh no that must have hurt on concrete! I fell a while ago onto my knees but that was on grass, they were still bruised and swollen but they healed quite quickly. I hope they feel better really soon!
Yikes...this sounds very painful. I wouldn’t run on it for a while and would def go see a specialist. It’s surprising how long it can take for knees to recover from a fall x
Hi Jen, nothing to add to the good advice you've had already, just sending sympathy. I bashed my knee yesterday, but nothing like as badly as you did. Passing on a virtual hug (()) and wishes for a speedy recovery.
