Two jog/walks

I haven't been on here for a while as I've had about 3 weeks off running - I got back last weekend after a week's skiing so I didn't run that week of course, or the week before going as I didn't want to twist anything!

This past week has been busy getting back to work etc so I went out yesterday in the cold drizzle to try a 5k. It felt hard, maybe unsurprisingly but I'd hoped that with all the extra red blood cells in my circulation after being at altitude, it would feel easier! I walked a few sections.

Today I went out with the plan to walk one of my running routes, but wore my running gear just in case I felt like breaking into a slow trot! Well of course I did so I broke a general rule and ran 2 consecutive days- in my defence there was quite a bit of walking in both. Does that make it ok?

I've just done some stretching and had a relaxing bath and it feels good! I'm looking forward to building back up to 10k for an event I've entered in May.

Hope everyone's running is going well 😄

Welcome back Joy, hope you had a fantastic time skiing. Did you feel fitter as a result of running?

Yes my ski fitness was good (in past years before I started running, I used to work on it in the gym). This year I did a bit of both and it paid off 😄

You’ve been running long enough that running 2 consecutive days should be ok, especially given that you were run/walking. I did the same thing, keeping both runs super short, just to try and get some form of running in this week.

I was amazed how my legs were so much stronger when we went skiing at Christmas compared to other years. It is nice to see the fitness carry over into other parts of our life. We were skiing short little prairie ski hill runs, but there was no fatigue at all in my legs.

Yes it's great, I think it's the first year that I've felt no strain or fatigue in my legs at all, and the strenuous poling myself along the flat stretches didn't bother me that much either.

Lovely to see you back here again! Hope you had a great time skiing. We haven't been for a few years now but I used to love it, and yes, running certainly helps with the flat parts are hard work!!
