I've run 30 minutes for the second time since getting the flu. Really slow. Just a couple of miles. It's really scuppered my January so I'm psyching myself up for February and March. I ran 25 miles over November and 30 over December so I reckon aiming for 35 in February and 40 in March is just enough of a challenge to keep me running 3 times a week. 10k training has taken a back seat but I'm going to work back up to starting in March. I cannot ever remember being so wiped by the flu that it takes weeks to get back to normal - and still not 100%. Going for the jab next year definitely!!
Planning to build up very slowly through February and start 10k training in March. Ju-ju's plan seems really popular so thinking I might give that a bash.

Congratulations Lapsedyogi for running 30 minutes for the second time since recovering from the flu.
I have had a bit of a cold and sore throat recently but it did not last long and I recovered very quickly, that is because
I got the flu jag last October, if I hadn't got that jag I no doubt would have had what you have just recovered from, so good advice to everyone who is entitled to have the flu jag, get it as soon as possible. 😊
Poor you, flu is a nasty little virus that can wipe you out for ages. I had the flu jab this year for the first time (don't want anything stopping me running)!
So glad you’re making a comeback LY. Real flu, as you’ve discovered, is horrific - in fact I’ve only had it once (*touch wood*). Even having a cold a few months ago set me back a few days, so I can’t imagine how you must have felt.
Smart move building up to 10k slowly, and yes the Magic 10 is fantastic. 10k just happens - like magic! 👍
Yes, any illness is a nuisance, hate being ill and Ive had my share since December, so so know how you feel. Miss running. Keep it slow and steady, running will always be there for you. Good luck in Feb/March.
Hi had the same flu over festive period and felt so bad I thought the C25k was wasted. Now back out there and started Jujus plan and ran a Parkrun last Saturday...if slowly. So you will get there but follow the general advice on here to rebuild slowly. Like you, I will be on the flu jag next winter. Take care!
Good to hear. I'm back to slow 30 minute runs and building up, but basically wrote off January and changed my February plans. After a few failed attempts to push myself I realised I would end up hating it of I carried on. Still congested and not 100% recovered 4 weeks later and I am not prone to these things. So frustrating.
