This morning’s parkrun was officially the start of my 2nd Magic 10, and I’ve got to say I haven’t stopped grinning. 😀
My Garmin recorded a PB of 36.38! I’ve never run 5k below 37 minutes before, and I’ve only run below 38 minutes on 2 occasions prior to today! 😀
I’m going to give a massive shout out to the lady who spurred me on. We talk most weeks because she runs with her friend’s dog who’s quite a lively little fellow. My dog calms him right down, so she ran with me for the majority of the 5k today. The dogs trotting along happily, and us chatting! Whaaaat?!! I spoke in actual sentences and ran at the same time! 😅😳😅
She’s a great runner and doesn’t care about her times at parkrun so was happy to run with me. On the final hill she was slightly ahead encouraging me all the way! We sprinted in together, and she is the reason today was my favourite parkrun performance ever! (I feel quite emotional!)
My goal is sub 35 minutes, and I think it’s attainable eventually. I had my doubts before this week!
Whoa that was fun! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🐕🐕
I hope you’ve all had or will have great runs this weekend too! ❤️❤️

Hey, Well done Cheeky. Mutual benefits there - you got to run with a good pacer and your dog calmed hers down. An excellent time but, most importantly, an enjoyable one. So glad you experienced chatting too, so much better than just listening to your own breathing.
Congratulations Cheeky, running with dogs, that is a very good time for you, the dog would help with your running, the fact that you talked while you were running just shows how much you enjoy your runs, I bet next Saturday can't come quick enough. 😊 🏃
Thanks AlMorr, I always take mine along, but I’m usually pretty spread out from other people so I only have me to motivate myself! Having someone running alongside for the most part helped 100%. 😀🏃♀️👍
Your post says it all! "favourite parkrun performance ever! Whoa that was fun! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🐕🐕" Well done you! Runs with high enjoyment are great! Long may they continue!
Thanks so much Deals. It definitely helped me no end having someone to run with. I never realised before! Talking was unexpectedly ok, and ending up with a PB was simply a bonus! 😀😀
That’s brilliant cheeky! See, you can do it, and give it time (probably not that long either) you’ll get that sub 35 minutes I’m sure - you probably won’t even realise it, you’ll be too busy chatting 😁👏👏👏💪💪
Thanks TC! I often wonder how much I’d shave off if I had a go at a flat parkrun. Possibly not much, but I’d like to give it a go sometime. My 2 local ones are pretty hilly! 😀
Thank you so much Sask. Yes, the talking just happened! I dreaded her starting a conversation to begin with, but I couldn’t be rude and not answer, so I just gave it a go! 😅😅 PB was a definite bonus. 😀🏃♀️👍
Definitely, Jonathan, along with all you wonderful VRBs! My husband is pleased for me, but not as excited about it as I am. I think (know!) I bore him rigid. He’s super fit due to rowing, so I’ll never compete with him! 😅
Well done cheeky that’s what its all about, when all the hard work you’ve put in pays off and that tremendous feeling of achievement at the end. Excellent run I’m so pleased for you. And even spare breath to speak at the same time, I am impressed. Nice one👍😀
Thank you Runsome! Something has clicked and I have the confidence to go a little quicker now. I was always reluctant to leave my happy place as I love running so much, but today proved I could stretch myself and still love it! Bonus. 👍😀
Thank you Lexi! I know my time is no great shakes compared to lots of others on here, but for me it felt epic! And the ability to chat was a real surprise - and I think it might have helped! Unbelievable! 😀🏃♀️👍
I think its a great time, I’d be well happy to do that! My last parkrun I tried to chat to a couple of people, but they moved aside, for me to pass them. Felt like Lexi no mates. 😂
Thanks Lexi, I’m trying to get to sub 35 which seemed a long way off before today. Now I believe I’ll do it eventually! 🏃♀️😀🏃♀️
As for the chatting, it was all down to the other lady. I’d never have dared starting up a conversation without her! So maybe those people you tried to talk to had never tried before? I surprised myself today! 😀😀
Ah, Cheeky... I love this post! 💖
Fantastic run & amazing time! Huge well done! 🤩
So lovely to be able to run & chat ... I’m still learning to master that! 😅
Awww thanks Dreams! It felt amazing and I’m still on that runner’s high! As for talking, I had no choice without appearing super rude, so I gave it a go! I was surprised to find it was ok! Who knew?! 😀👍🏃♀️🐕
Aaaaahhhhh Cheeky! Such a lovely post you can really feel the excitement and emotion through your words. What a great little partnership ...and mutually beneficial! Your goal of a sub 35 has just got a whole lot closer with that new PB 🙌 🎉
I’m really buzzing for you! (...Or maybe it was the bucket of coffee I just finished?!)
Awww thank you so much Becky! The run director asked if I’d had a good run and I thrust my Garmin in his face and said ‘I think I ran a PB’! How sad is that?!! 😅😅😅
