New Year New running goals

Hello Bridge to 10k community. I may be jumping ahead of myself a bit having just run a parkrun for the first time in a while and immediately looking for longer goals. In part my goal is to enjoy 5k on a regular basis while working towards a 10k. My eldest two kids want to run a 10K race this year and I'd like to join them. So here's the plan-I'd like to build on a regular parkrun with one more run in the week and extra days walking as I've been fairly inactive for a while and simply want to get some routine back in my life! So my aim is parkrun3/4 weekends to allow a little life to happen as I know every week might be tricky but if I do manage it will be a bonus!

Glad to find this group and make a start.

A routine is perfect as that establishes a habit which is then hard to break. Consolidate for a while and then mix up your runs with a shorter faster run (your parkrun?) or intervals or hills, and that's when you can start to build in a longer run. Doing a Parkrun once a month rather than every week gives you more flexibility and you can see progress more steadily, but do what suits you and make sure you enjoy it 🙂
