Hi there everyone and welcome to, yet another, new running week.

We are all so busy... life can be hectic .... and even more so for us runners!

Fear not, here is a place to take five, and enjoy a chat about our running adventures, trials, tribulations, successes, achievements etc.

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up, but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If you're a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi, without the pressure of a full post.

So pull up a chair, slip off the running shoes, and settle down for a little natter:)

Wishing you all a happy , healthy ,running week

Oldfloss, Realfoodieclub, Ju-ju , Millsie-J and Roseabi

Hi all, Its a year now since I started C25k, I didn't graduate until 10th of Feb because of calf strains but I was 16.5 stone so felt a little sorry for my legs. I had only run one 10k race and one 5k park run (I was on the I C for two months with a bad plantar injury in my right foot. Following that I was running 5km every other day until I gained the confidence to start building my mileage, I set a target of 65km running five days a week which I achieved three weeks ago and everything was still intact and working well!

I did the Conwy half marathon yesterday and was amazed how well it went. I did start off too fast but lots of pb's in one race, 5k, 10k, one mile. In the last four KM literally 100's of people were overtaking me, I would have been demoralised but my garmin was telling me that my pace was really good, I know i could have paced myself better but overall I was really happy with how things went. Best of all my hard to get out of bed in the mornings daughter, had come along to support me and she really enjoyed herself.

I started week 3 of 10 is the magic number today and as last week cos the weather was ok, I did the longer 7k run as the first one of the week. No record breaking pace but I ran 7k for the first time ever in my life, and even had enough left in the tank to make the last km the fastest. Loving this running lark 😊😊

I’d just like to say a big thank you to Oldfloss, realfoodieclub, Ju-ju, Millsie-J and Roseabi for making this forum work. This last week we have seen some of our VRBs lose a bit of confidence or mojo and as a result of the support on here they have come bouncing back. It wouldn’t be possible without mentors and admin team.

👏👏

Yes I wholeheartedly agree Dexy. I noticed the lack of mojo posts from several people who are usually positive, but without exception, this wonderful community rallied round and supported whoever it was - and guess what? Their next post was generally back to loving their running again! It just takes a tiny word of encouragement sometimes. 👍

The power of this forum is invaluable. Thanks guys. ❤️❤️

I have to agree too, I have had a real outpouring of love & support on here this week & without this forum I would def be back on the couch, so thank you Oldfloss , ju-ju- , Realfoodieclub , Millsie-J , & roseabi xxx

Hi all, couldn't resist the temptation to post about a hat trick of PBs! First was a sub-30 (29.24) at parkrun on Saturday, next was a sub-29 (28.59!) on my usual 5k route on Monday and finally this morning, 1.04.53 for 10k! The 10k was pretty tough with an icy wind sweeping up the Solent and over the hill, so I was very tempted about halfway round to cut it short with an 8k instead, but got my second wind and plodded on round and back up the hill to the (imagined) finish tape. Certainly worth it!

I'd also like to second the thanks to our wonderful mentor/admin team - happy running everyone 😀

That must feel soooo good! Well done 🥳👍 I dream of a sub-30 5k! But then I used to dream of a sub-35 5k and got there recently so who knows!

Thanks Equi-geek - yes who knows? After what I've achieved since starting c25k earlier this I've begun to think that (almost) anything is possible!

Ok so I got my new hat the other day 👩‍🎓😊

So now what? Do I download another thing to follow?

Do I just take myself running and keep listening to Sarah telling me how great I am on W9R3 🤷🏽‍♀️

BUT if I do that my head will swell and I won’t be able to run as I’ll have a fat head 🤷🏽‍♀️😳🤷🏽‍♀️😳

HELP 🤪

Congratulations on graduating and don’t worry! The running world is your oyster!!! There is the ju-ju- Magic number plan, Nike+ podcasts and all manner of routes to 10K. You’ll find something to suit you. The most important thing is to keep enjoying it 👏😁👍

I've been thinking that I need to do some core strength work. I'm running 3 times a week and doing Pilates and stretching but I'd like to be stronger. My upper body is weak. I've looked at lots of videos and exercise diagrams but I get defeated when I attempt them. I do not want to go to a gym (unless I really have to use a treadmill). My pondering aloud led to a colleague telling me about core strengthening (with weights) classes in our local village school hall. There are rave reviews and lovely photos on Facebook so I have signed up for a class on Saturday morning and I am very excited. I'll keep you posted!

I swim - highly recommended- but I might need to hit the gym soon 😁👍 Hope all goes well on Saturday 😗

in reply to Equi-geek

Thanks EG. I have been loathe to embrace the idea of cross-training or core strengthening but I am becoming convinced. I like the idea of being able to whip off the lid of a jar on the first attempt :)

Ah, jar lids! We can dream can’t we? 🤣💪
