Got home, only managed one run in eight days,5k along the Thames, from Weybridge.

Fighting off a head cold, stupid self inflicted boiler problems, etc, stuff really does get in the way.

Hogmanay tomorrow, last day of the year I began to trot.So tomorrow I am going to see if I can break into a canter and hold it most of the time for 5k.

Then back on my programme, sprints, strength and core for 21 days continuously from 02/01/19.The year 2018 for me, the year of the trotter, 2019 hopefully the year of the canterer.

But this is the forum that clears the decks of all this stuff, gets your eyes back on the prize, filled with inspiring runners and their stories and kind supportive , knowledgable administrators, still cannot believe I found this place in 2018, what a year.

Atb to all with your 2019 plans.

Happy Hogmanay and New Year to you Tbae, that's a busy program of running you have for 2019, I was planning to rerun my graduation run next Saturday in Helensburgh. (5/1/19)

Although I have not been doing long runs recently I think my legs are itching for a longer run like at least a 20 or 30 minute one. This morning I went for a 12 Kilometre walk to a local beauty spot, it took me 75 minutes, however, on the way back I noticed several runners going at the pace I go and some slower when running and I could not resist the temptation to run, I got home in 55 minutes, not the 75 I took to get to where I was going, I think I perhaps have got the running bug, at least a bit.

Once again, Happy New year to you and your family πŸ‘ͺ.

I have always been impressed with your running pace Alan.Gosh that is good going on the return.I am hoping I can catch up with your pace. That would be progress.

Must be your lifetime of cycling and looking after yourself.

Every good wish to you Alan and your family for 2019.

Yes Tbae, perhaps all the cycling since I was 7 and the long walks I have done over the last 40 years or so have helped me with my time on C25K. This morning I got itchy legs on the way back when I saw those other runners and just had to "take off" and run a bit, perhaps I had week 1 and 2 of C25K in mind, there were plenty of walking breaks, nevertheless, I shed off 20 minutes on the way back, I did not have proper running clothes on, in fact I had walking boots on, this route is part of a trail run which is ran around the end of October and is quite rough terrain, I went to Barrhill, that's on the Antonine Wall between Grangemouth and Bowling. Just after I started to walk back, 3 runners passed me, once they were about 50 metres ahead, I just started to run at about the same pace as them for about 3 minutes until they went on a different route. Later on, I saw another 2 'runners' running at a slower pace than I was walking and passed them and arrived home as I say in 55 minutes, not the 75 minutes it took me to get to Barr Hill.

Amazing Alan, laughing about boots and dress.I had thought, wonder what gear he was wearingπŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Bit like me in the photo.I arrived and just to pay a visit, but warmed up and sprinted the indoor 120m track.πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯β˜„οΈ

Yes very much so Debs.

So glad you are enjoying your well earned break and I am very impressed with your continuous running streak.

Bit easier for me, but I must get back to that.

Just put on half a stone in less than 2 weeks. That is stupid of me.

Just back from making hard work of 5k, but glad I got round, running is the only thing for me, it’s just life itself.

Atb Debs to you and yours and your running plans in 2019.

Will never forget your kindness to me in my early floundering days.

Glad you got that 5k done 😊. I wouldn't worry about putting on a bit if weight at this time of year - it'll soon disappear when you're back into routine (at least this is what I tell myself πŸ˜‚).

I'm enjoying my Ministreak- it's given me something to focus on and I really relish the headspace.

And you are more than welcome to the kindness - we've all floundered in our time and if we can't help each other out I'm not sure where we'd end up. I am very glad you didn't give up on us 😊. Have a lovely New Year when I'll look forward to more reports of your cantering!
