Christmas Ministreak 7/16

Apologies to those of you who are now bored of my daily reports but I do feel that without posting it might be too easy to give up - especially today when the gremlins were out in force.

Woke up wheezy and coughing and with that in between Christmas and New Year malaise where you don't know what day it is and think you might die if you have to eat anything ever again.

Still determined to be out I decided to run in a park I haven't ever run in and not even visited for ages.

Arrive at the car park and discover that you now have to pay to park and I only have a £10 note (emergency money in my arm band running thing). Discouraged I decide to head for Waterperry where the garden centre provides parking for a good range of runs. Get there and of course it's closed between Christmas and New Year.

At this point now more angry than determined I abandon the car at the side of the road and start an agitated warm up walk across a field where I know I can pick up a peaceful bridleway.

Podcast on and 10 minutes into running I feel great again 😊 - though don't run quite as far as I intended because I didn't have as much time as I originally started out with!

Busy day now getting daughter 1 packed off back to Uni after which I'm going to plan lovely running routes for the weekend.

Happy running!

Twixtmas! I love this period of time. Though stir crazy, so have come out of my hibernation to get a hair cut. 😁

And I for one look forward to your daily post and am following your streak with interest! Well done on getting out, and not letting the gremlins stop you from getting a run in. Goodness! They were persistent today, poor you! But you squashed them, well done Deb.

I gave in to my cold and have not run in 3 days. 😕 But wild horses will not stop me getting out tomorrow!

Stir crazy is about right! Would love a big long walk but my other half is back at work today until New Year's Eve.

Poor you having a cold - I hate getting ill during holiday times - but I know you, you'll be back out there running as soon as you can.

I am amazed at how well I'm feeling running everyday - though am planning a longer run tomorrow and wonder how that might be... but guess there's only one way to find out 😊

If your way of keeping running on your mini streak is to keep posting, then I would say carry on posting 😁

It’s always good to try out new routes and places - a great way of keeping the motivation up.

Happy running and good luck with the rest of the mini streak 😁

Thank you.

I do worry about boring everyone but posting on HU has been so much a part of my running journey (starting with the obligatory lurking post on C25K) and help old me unaccountable (even if only to myself)!

I'm enjoying the challenge of running everyday (albeit for a limited amount of time) and love that I have time to try out new routes in the holidays. 😊

Don’t worry, I’ve already bored the pants off everyone this month - they’re probably relieved to get you instead 😂

I love hearing about your running streaks, makes me more eager to get out there myself!

Streak on and post on! I find these running streaks and am in awe of those who can do them.

The gremlins were definitely out in full force for you today but you showed them!

Thank you. I am in awe that my knees haven't given up yet and am relishing this mini challenge.

Please keep posting! You are doing really well.

I hope that you don't mind that I have piggybacked your challenge but it actually feels helpful for me to have some company. Today I ran 4k and I have to say it was a bit of a struggle. My legs were tired from the outset. Still I have a good book on the go and that helps. Run done and feeling good for that. Tomorrow is another day :)

No worries at all that you're challenging yourself too! Was inspired by Hidden - that's what is so great about this forum - it always helps to keep me going.

I ran just over 4k today too. I'm planning a longer run tomorrow and then a shorter recovery run on Sunday. To be honest I'm not sure how the longer run might go (mainly due to my own lack of confidence rather than not feeling strong) so am planning a circular route where I can cut it short at several points if need be and some of my favourite podcasts 😊.

I found it easiest not to plan. Everything adjusts during a streak and there will be days of absolute fatigue, days when you don’t feel like running but do a brilliant run, and days like today for me when I felt fine, planned a nice 10k then could hardly put one foot in front of the other

This makes sense to me - hence the circular route planned tomorrow. I'll se how it goes but can stop at any point and not be far from the car.😊

Good for you Deb. That might have been a ‘sod it, I’m off home’ kind of scenario! So glad you got a nice run in. Keep it up, you’re doing admirably! 🏃‍♀️👏🏃‍♀️

Thank you. I was so cross on that warm up walk 😡😂!

I'm impressed with your mini streak so far, and nice to hear all about it. But how frustrating for you - those gremlins get everywhere, don't there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know what day it is during this in-betweeny phase.

I like Sadie-runs ' 'twixtmas' - who knows what day it is? - You're just somewhere in between (fighting off the gremlins 😂)!

You are amazing to do this! I too planned a route (through Christchurch in Oxford ) on Xmas day because I would normally avoid crowds/students/ tourists only to find all the gates locked.A city re-route was needed. It still felt fabulous to be out before the feast!Keep going....

I do think Oxford 'closes' for Christmas! Though the other side of the Thames towards Iffley lock is nice - in fact Folly Bridge to Sandford Lock and back is a great 10k route.

All those logistical set backs would have annoyed me and maybe totally put me off, but good on you for getting on and doing your run, finding your usual groove!

So annoying! Did think it perhaps wasn't meant to be. Thankfully was able to run the frustrations off in the end 😊.

Fantastic, l really enjoy reading your updates. I think it's brilliant that you've managed to keep going over Christmas! It's my first Christmas since completing c25k and l am chuffed that l have kept to 3 runs a week, l can't imagine running everyday.

Keep posting!😊😊🏃

Well done Deb...you are inspirational, please keep posting your runs. You could pop your time in Rfc's running bank for the festive period too, if you aren't already. 😊xxx
