In short, talked into running a half marathon in September so plenty of time to prepare. I have a 12 mile mildly hilly trail run around the surrounding villages where I live, so my question is:- Would it be better/more advantages to train on that terrain, rather than a road so come the actual day, I won't find it as challenging!! Or am I kidding myself?

Trail or Road
train on the trail, its so more fun, and will prepare you better. You might want to do your intervals on the road tho....
I prefer trail runs.... expect the un- expected, it means you are ready for anything. Just ensure you have the correct shoes π
I train on my tricky trail. I believe it sets me up for races Itβs less traffic fumes to ingest as well The varying terrain really helps make you stronger, top to toe You vary the speed too as you have to scamper, quickly change direction, climb hilly bits slowly, makes descents. Itβs fab ππͺπ. I trained on my trail for a flat marathon and iβm Sure it was the right thing to do It was nothing like as strenuous as the training Iβd done
Start now πͺππ you need to shape up for the task Start now and dodge the stodge. If you fill up with Christmas excess youβll be hauling it around with you for months ππ
I used to That was my downfall Excess, ill health π. No more, thankfully
I donβt miss any of it at all. Strange π€·ββοΈ But true π
