Still running but it’s become quite routine so not much to post about.
Got a small (1.5 litre) camelbak hydration backpack a few weeks back. Mainly for summer but thought I’d try it out today on a 15k run as an alternative to my hand held bottle.
Good to have the water - I don’t normally bother in this weather but had beer and rubbish food last night so was very welcome - and nice to not be holding a bottle. Generally was good - I sucked the air out before I started so it didn’t slosh about and it wasn’t too annoying but it did move about a bit and I couldn’t get it right enough to stop this. I suspect one with a waist belt as well may help here.
Stuck to roads and gravel tracks today and tried a few new sections to keep things interesting. Head torch is working great for my early morning runs but I do take it off about half way when it gets lighter as it does look silly.
Happy running everyone.

Excellent! Yes, nothing stops them bouncing and moving a bit. I'm trying soft flasks attached to my tiny waist pouch. Useful but can be annoying.
Headtorches are such a boon... I wouldn't worry about looking silly given I go out with mine over my rain hat in this weather!! And a flashing red light attached to the back for the dark lanes!! Let them laugh.... we'll be out-living them anyway! 👍💪🤣😁
Makes sense. I got used to the movement by the end so will be okay but I’ll definitely only take it when needed. Getting a bottle for my flip belt for Christmas so will have lots of options.
Head torches are great. I’ve got a red light on mine too. I wear a buff as headband to make it more comfy which is the main reason I look a bit silly. Won’t stop though 😀
I find I take my hydration bladder on anything much over 5k, as I like being able to sip as I go. 😊
I’ve recently bought a bigger 10l trail running vest, which I pad out with my lightweight waterproof in case the weather turns. Even my tiny cheap vest (which I mainly use) moves about a bit for the first km, though (both vests have 2 front straps, but neither as low as waist level - easier for breathing). I’ve found that if I try to concentrate on small short steps and running more smoothly (rather than bobbing up and down) then it’s no longer noticeable, though. So I like to think carrying a bladder on my back actually improves my running style! 😊❤️
Oddly I’d never seen anyone with a chest light until I got a head torch. Now I see quite a few and they do look good. I do like that the head torch lights up where I’m looking but it does mean I dazzle people or cars if I look straight at them so I tend to try and look away.
