Hi all c25k runners need some idea's to sort my ed out. Running for 60mins regardless of distance but I have tried music counting endlessly and different routes but it still gets prity boring. Anyone out there with any idea's or is it a case of just get on with it.

Mostly I do pace sums ….. if I keep going at this speed, what will my time be at the next 500m check, what do I have to do to get my average pace up to some target …….

If you run on roads, try checking off all the year prefixes on numberplates - see if you can get the full set from 02 to 18 and 51 to 68. Never tried that running, but used to do it with prefix letters walking to work years ago. Good test of memory remembering what you've seen already …..

I said this was the Bridge to Madness :-)

Hi Temsing, you could try downloading the ZombiesRun! free app. You can play your music alongside it and there are story missions. Once the mission is over it carries on in radio mode and they act as Dj's to your playlist.. Something different. It gives out your distance too.

Or some people like podcasts of radio quiz shows.

Hope you find something you like.😊x

*I don't get bored, just tired!😥

Running is as much mental as physical so you just need to get used to it I guess. Many people run simply because of the "me time" and the chance to let the mind relax and think of nothing in particular.

I don't understand how anyone can get bored on a run because there's so much going on around, the sights, smells, memories. On long runs I run with big epic music and, as I have a vivid imagination, I am always the star in my own movie 😕💪💪 and make up a whole script in my head. Believe me, it makes the time go very quickly!

Sounds good to me

Do you get bored when you walk too?

I find just looking around at everything, seeing how the trees change during the seasons, spotting wildlife etc. Way too many things to get bored... perhaps a new route?

Probably bored was a bit strong may be going a bit stir crazy.

I listen to audiobooks. Sometimes a good book is the impetus to get out the door; if I want to hear it, I have to go running :)

I invented a game I call Four Wheel Drive Cricket about 15 years ago. Every time you see an ordinary car, that is a run scored. Commercial vehicles don't count.

Every time you see a 4WD or Jeep type car, a wicket falls. In those days an innings was about 100. These days there are so many 4WD type vehicles that an innings rarely gets to 30. In the summer I play Convertible Cricket - each convertible is a wicket. Scores get to about 100 per innings that way. If you play 4WD Cricket at the SAME time as Convertible Cricket your brain is far to occupied to worry about your running. You can also play French Car Cricket, or Japanese Car Cricket.

My real life is otherwise fairly normal - except for the couple of years in the seventies when I ran the World...

So it's all your fault then!!!!

I was actually appointed by Them to be God in 1972, and it lasted for a couple of years. Lots of people get a turn at being God. It was going quite well, but I had a bit of a cock up with the train time tables in Bangla Desh, and They weren't too happy with me.

When I let Alvin Stardust get to Number One with My Co Ca Choo in 1974, that was the last straw, They had had enough, and I got emptied. My successor let Margaret Thatcher take over the Conservative Party and let Sony invent Betamax tapes, so I don't think She lasted too long either. I suspect Whoever is in charge now is not long for the office.....

If I had invented Four Wheel Drive Cricket in 1974, who knows, I might still be running the Show.....

You mean there's someone in charge?

I’m on the committee. We held an EGM after Blue Planet 2 and the incumbent God resigned. No-one volunteered so We voted to do a ‘shortest straw’ but then no-one wanted to play. So the position is vacant. Our next meeting is at the end of March if anyone wants it?

I remember You on the committee when I was interviewed in 1971. My presentation on Fielding at Silly Point and its application to the Evolution of Mankind and my thesis that Dan and Doris Archer should be given immortality went down particularly well. I was a bit thrown by your question as to whether I was afraid of the dark, but I diverted your attention with my theories about touch-typing and I think I got away with it....

Ah! I noticed the dark-dodging and your input to touch-typing theory greatly expanded its use by mankind after we agreed on that Gates/Microsoft project application. Typing pool was a bit miffed though...

My mind wanders where it will. Sometimes I ‘come to’ and wonder where I’ve been 😁. I write my shopping list in my head, what we’re having for tea, make up numerous poems about running, which in forget the instant I stop running. I write shorthand to the lyrics i’m Listening to I imagine the outlines. I take in the sights, sounds, trees, colour, animals, the way my new country park is evolving, speak to walkers, horse riders etc. Chunter about development of fields for yet more houses The time flies by.

As adults we can do this stuff It’s about inner resources. We can dig deep when we have to Trail running might be good for you as you have to engage more in the run because of your footing, overhanging branches etc etc. The time flies even faster on those 💪😃👍
