Last long run (16k) before my last organised race in 2018, the year feels like it's winding down.

After a weekend where most of Saturday was lost to a hangover it felt good to get out this afternoon.

I wasn't sure how it would go and decided to do 10k and see how i felt.

However right from the off I felt good, the first 9km were all under the 7 minute mark and although I slowed a little after that I was able to pick it up again for the last 2km and ended just missing 1 hour 50 mins and with an average of 6.56 per km.

Very happy with that and hoping with the adrenaline of a race I might manage to knock a couple of minutes of it next week at the Kirkley Hall Northumberland 10 miler.

Now off for a well earned meal at the local Italian!!

Run happy, run safe.

Thanks Ted, the legs didn't go as much as usual in the latter stages.

Yes it's Sunday, after that I'm not doing more than 5k until the start of February!!!

So Chris, can I pick your brains please. This morning I went out. Only did 3k as I’m doing the B210K with extras, and this is the first one for the second week. So my pace is between 7m/km to 8m/km I ran non stop for 24 mins with a couple of inclines to do.So for a 60 year old I think that’s not too bad. However I really don’t understand if this is too slow or is it ok. Any advice would be appreciated. Hubby says it’s good .......! 👍🤗🤗

I think that is pretty good to be honest, of course there will be people in your age group (and mine, I'm 48) who run much faster tham we do but typically they will have been running for many years. My quick pace is about 6 mins per km but that's very unusual for me, typically for a short run I'm at 6.40, for a longer run about 7 or slightly more so between 7 and 8 is absolutely fine.

Brilliant Chris! Many thanks for that pet. To be honest I don’t think I could get it any faster! I feel though that if I was to run on the flat all the time I might be able to get faster maybe not.🤣🤣 I think I’ll be happy with that. Anyway many thanks again, you’ve put my mind at rest😂😂
