Gym bunny in the making! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Treadmill day! Note to self: dress like it’s August during the heatwave! Not that the gym was overly warm, but of course there’s no cooling breeze. I don’t sweat much as a rule. Well today I did! 😳 And talk about πŸ… πŸ˜…

I set it at 7kpm with a tiny little incline of 1. It felt nice and easy. I’d like to see if I can work out how to programme in 5k (for example) so I can see it counting down. Psychologically I think I’ll find that easier! Also maybe work out how to programme in intervals and play with the inclines. Get me! πŸ˜…

I only ran about 3k which was plenty for my first time. It was a test run really. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

So I survived with no embarrassing dramas and popped on the bike for a quick 2 mile whiz (didn’t bother setting it to km) on level 10 (whatever that is!) I quite enjoyed that too.

So this will be my regular Thursday morning routine now. My longer runs will be Monday or Tuesday, outside for as long as possible. And of course parkrun on Saturdays. This weekend I’m running in an elephant onesie. Yes I am. 😳😳😳 🐘

The gym sounds ok cheeky. I will need to practise on the treadmill so that I’m ready for when I need to use it in the winter, but you’ve made it sound bearable.

The elephant onesie I’m not as convinced about but pictures are definitely a must πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yes it was bearable Beanjo. Just mighty toasty, but I don’t know what I was expecting!

Yep, I’ll get a selfie of me as an elephant! I don’t think I’ll be able to run with the hood up as the trunk flops over my eyes! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Get you, you’ll soon be the gym expertπŸ‘, keep it going so you can tell me how to work them machines it all seems a bit complicated. Long may the weather stay good to keep us on the roadπŸ˜€

cheekychipmunksGraduate10β€’ in reply toRunsome

I don’t know about gym expert! I fleetingly looked at the monster weights machine in the corner, but decided that was a step too far! Would be good for leg strengthening though πŸ€”

Yes hopefully we can all remain outside for as long as possible! πŸ€žπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ‘

Depending on the type of machine you have, it should be possible. The gym staff should be able to help you set it up. Well done on the 7k, I have only done c25k runs there so far.

I am so looking forward to seeing your post about parkrunning in a onesie - with photos

I didn’t run 7k Dexy, I had it set to 7kpm and ran 3k, but hey it was a run and I sweated!

I will have a play next time I’m there and see what programmes I can discover. πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Yes ok, I’ll get a selfie at parkrun. We’re having cupcakes and bubbly too! 🧁 πŸ₯‚ πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜

That’s what comes of going on the forum while drinking a cappuccino and eating a brownie, lack of concentration on any one task. Sorry for those on a diet, but I’m celebrating my lowest weight 8 years!

Your parkrun sounds so much fun - did you say it was it’s birthday?

Yes it’s its first birthday! Should be so much fun! πŸŽ‚ πŸ₯‚πŸŽ‰πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ

Well done to you Dexy! That is fantastic! 🍰πŸ₯‚Can't find a brownie image, cake will have to do! So are you going to divulge how many pounds you have lost since starting C25k? I'm still at just a measly 2 pounds down if that!

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10β€’ in reply toover61andstilltrying

I was 69kg when I started in March and I am 64.2 kg today. So about 10lb. It’s not as much as many have lost on this forum but if I knock off that .2kg I will be classed as healthy weight again. Maybe I shouldn’t have had that brownie! I haven’t changed my eating habits but I do drink less wine.

Superstar! Brilliant weight loss! And I just love seeing that badge after your name! I am hoping that next week this time I'll be in that Magic 10 club too! 😊

Just completed my tax return. Far less pleasant than my long run this week or any week come to that. But hooray it is done! 😊 Can't wait for my 10k run! Can I stay injury free for this last week?

So reassuring to read your experience at the gym. I had my induction on Tuesday morning which went fairly well. I went back in the afternoon to have a "proper go" on the treadmill. Within minutes I knew I needed to mop my brow 😒- it was like a sauna - setting the incline at 3 was perhaps a tad too ambitious but I persevered! I managed two ten minute runs with five minute walks in between - determined not to let the man (effortlessly running) beside me see me fail! Definitely need lighter clothing and a few more goes to adjust to treadmill running - never mind all those other machines - but I can see the benefits of the gym .

Wonderful though to get outside on such a nice day today and run 4k plus. LπŸƒπŸ˜Š

Good luck running in your elephant costume 🐘 x

Haha yes Lexie, I think I’ll be back in my summer gear and remember to take extra water next time. Sweat was flying off my brow! Yuk!!

I’ll be no cooler in my elephant onesie I fear, but it’ll be a hoot! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

It’ll be totally bonkers running in it! I don’t foresee many PB’s for people who do dress up! Luckily the forecast is meant to be quite chilly which is just as well! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

What a shame you don't have a chipmunk onesie, but I can't wait to see the pictures of you dressed as an elephant!

And well done braving the treadmill, it sounds like you had fun! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Ha, i must say I did look for one! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Yes, the gym was fine. I couldn’t run on a treadmill all the time, but it’ll be useful for the shocking weather when it arrives. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

I’ll definitely get a photo OF! I don’t quite know how I’ll manage our hideous long hill wearing a soft fleecy and very toasty onesie, but do it I will! πŸ˜…

I do love animals so it’s only fitting that I embrace that and dress as one! πŸ˜…πŸ˜³πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Yes it is 61. Much as I love running outside, and will do so whenever possible this winter, it’s good to know that I can still run in the most hideous weather. πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

This sounds like me CCM, toying with the idea of gym running :(. It's too dark now to take our youngest to the track after work/school so I am down to 2 runs a week but when that bad weather hits....

Hey, good point jayval! πŸ˜…πŸ‘ Maybe I should have worn the onesie in the gym, so running at parkrun will be no problem! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Sounds like a successful test run with the treadmill cheeky. I hope you managed to get the one by the window that you wanted 😁 I’ve only run on a treadmill at my gait analysis and that was only a short amount of time. Sounds like you took to it nicely! Great idea programming the intervals in there too πŸ‘ ...like the sound of that. Have fun tomorrow can’t wait to see 🐘 selfie!!!

Hi TS, yes I did get my window one! πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜€ Small detail, but the sun was shining on the screen and I couldn’t appreciate my β€˜surroundings’ - I think it was taking me up a mountain! The graphics are very good! The stats weren’t affected so I could see my distance etc though. πŸ˜€

Yep, elephant onesie at the ready ...... I’m going to be the hottest person on the planet, but I WILL run the full 5k! πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
