Pleased with a 10k PB - 58β14β official time. π
A bit surprised with that bearing in mind the curry we ate repeating all night / 2 hours sleep / a whole pack of antacids / inability to eat breakfast! Not sure Iβll try that for race preparation next time! πππ
Tatton Park was a beautiful place to run, Oldfloss , and you were there with me as we weaved around all the people setting off. We stuck to our own βslow and steadyβ, and ran our own race. Official race entry numbers were about 2400, but looking at the results only about 1000 ran on the day. Lots of friendly supportive helpers; a fun warm up before hand by local PTs from a stage; singing; a sax player (he even moved to one of the corners mid-route!); lots of yummy free things to eat after; oh, and of course the cool T shirt (my first race one!), and the colourful bling that had drawn my attention when entering! πππ
Thankfully the event was small enough that you could park near the start in a field, and queue quite quickly for the portaloos. Iβd certainly recommend it to others new to racing too (and attracted to pretty bling!) ππ β€οΈ And thereβs a HM there tomorrow, run by the same organisers...hmmm...maybe next year...π

Hidden - meant to tag you! Definitely a nice race to think about, with lovely bling. Not too busy. There are a series of 10k races at Tatton each year, so perhaps we should get a B210k team going for one...
Once I have next yearβs dates, I can just put a post up and ask if people want to join in / what date preferences they have, if that would work BaddieThePirate ? Iβll try to tag people whoβve said they might be interested. Perhaps Oldfloss and the admins could pin it for us, in case that helps more locals spot it? β€οΈ
Have to admit I might look for Tatton HMs next year too, Oldfloss , as Iβd like to do one somewhere, and it makes a nice venue with good tracks. π Iβm sure we can also pick one of the many 10ks to suggest for a βclub eventβ. I suspect there are quite a few of us not too far away from the Tatton/ Manchester region.
Congratulations mountaindreamer, that is a fantastic time. You were definitely born to run. I am so proud of my fellow runners doing so well. I do think that is a great medal to earn too.
It is great that you can share these experiences with your OH too, even if you donβt see him for dust. πββοΈ..........πββοΈ
Was it a nice flat run? Thatβs quite a drop out percentage isnβt it? It couldnβt have been due to the weather but I guess people get injuries.
Well done both of you. πββοΈπββοΈπππ π
Thanks Eileen. πβ€οΈ It was pretty flat, but had a few gradual inclines to get up and down. (One was even labelled βNearly at the topβ, so I guess they felt it noteworthy!) Nice smooth wide tracks and closed roads for all but the very last bit to the finish (when the track got a bit rough), so a pleasant route with fairly easy overtaking options for most of it.
I discovered another advantage of OH being there too (apart from to yell encouragement to me for my sprint finish) is that he declared the nice race T shirt too girly a colour - so Iβve now got 2!!πβ€οΈ
Thanks Ang! β€οΈ The curry was in honour of OHβs birthday. I donβt mind ones we make at home, but all restaurant curries are much too rich and fatty for my guts! π
Thanks β€οΈ It was a tad too chilly and windy to start with, to be honest Cheeky. The sun then broke through and it warmed up, though. Makes it so tricky to know what t wear!
Donβt worry 10k bling will very soon be within your reach! β€οΈβ€οΈπ
Sorry but 58min for 10k is NOT slow and steady - in fact itβs freaking brilliant! Well done π and what a pretty medal. And all on too much curry and no sleep! You are amazing πβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Thanks Flick! πβ€οΈ Perhaps I should have only said βsteadyβ - I just tell myself the slow bit too when people race past me at high speed. Best to know my limits! πβ€οΈ
Brilliantly done, Mountaindreamer! Sounds like a wonderful experience. And on just 2 hours of sleep?! You are a woman of steel! Fab time too. πππ xxx
Thanks ju-ju- πβ€οΈ I think my husband was more impressed at my time in the last 10k race we did. He couldnβt believe I managed exactly 1 second under the hour! πππ
What a fabulous time Mountaindreamer and an even fabulouser t-shirt! Slow and steady my eye Oh yes, I'm motivated by nice bling too. So you're dreaming of a HM - how exciting! I'm also motivated by runners like yourself who talk about doing a race after very little sleep. Sometimes I don't sleep well and say to myself "Oh I can't run". Like a lot of this running lark, it's psychological. I can and I do! Hope you have a good night's sleep tonight.
Thanks Paula! πβ€οΈ Iβd been looking forward to this race (and my pretty bling!) I really wasnβt sure what would happen after last night, but sometimes you have to just try your best and get on with it! ππ
Oh wow, thatβs a brilliant time, Iβm in awe! Thanks for tagging me too, I didnβt actually get the notification for some reason, but just happened to find it scrolling through.
Anyway, well done, and Iβd certainly give a 10k at tatton some serious thought
Thanks Neil β€οΈ Iβm noting down who might be interested for one of them next year Hidden . We can see who prefers what dates and try and get a team meet up going! πβ€οΈ
Agreed, your race prep probably needs working on. Great time though and looks like fun. Do they hold this every year? It's not a million miles from me...
Great run by you mountaindreamer, brill time. Some runners from my club Penyffordd RC ran it and I was on two minds whether to or not, running Cheshire 10k next week instead. Tatton sounds a great event, maybe next year. So well done to you.
Iβm going to try to tag people who might be interested for one of the many Tatton 10ks next year, to see if nearer the time we can get a B210k team meet up at one. Iβll add you to the βpossibly interestedβ list if you like?
Congratulations for not only surviving after a rubbish night, but doing it in style! And what a fancy medal! Aw mine are all so drab. I'm proud of them of course, but I do wish I'd get something a bit more jazzy to take pride of place π
Not sure if youβre localish to Tatton or not, but a few of us were thinking we might try to do a B210k team meet up at one of the Tatton 10ks next year. We could try to pick one with pretty bling for you! (I think the group who organised this particular one always do these bright painted ones. We had a flyer with our race pack advertising a few other race events they do, and photos of the medals were all very pretty! ππ π β€οΈ)
I'm up in Scotland unfortunately π (well, not unfortunately to being up here, it's lovelyβbut to not being anywhere near Tatton!) though this coming year already has some touristy runs booked, so never say never! π
