My goodness that was tough! The weather was about 18c and it was really warm when the sun came out. Katnap TailChaser Windoze plus one of my long-standing friends who happens to be a runner turned up at an English vineyard at Burton on the Wolds near Loughborough for our 10k Wild Wine Run. The run started with several runs up (and I mean up - Dexy5 you would have hated itπ) and down between the rows of vines, then we ran around the edge of a field to the water/wine station (choice of white or rose) before doing another 3 halfway ups and downs. That was the end of the 5k, but we carried on to run around another 3 large fields, 2 of them sloping quite significantly. Back to the wine/water station, then the evil organisers made us do the halfway ups and downs again before the finish. I finished in 1 hour 16 mins, but only managed to record 9.93km for some reason, while everybody else (who were all faster than me) recorded 10.2. Very puzzling π€The terrain was mostly grass but quite bumpy in a lot of places. Finally, we got to try the wines, buy a glass of fizz and relax. Definitely the hardest 10k Iβve done but a great run, with great company. Nice bling too π Lyme Park will seem a doddle after this πππ
Running through the vineyard - English not F... - Bridge to 10K
Running through the vineyard - English not French for a change π·π·
I think I would have volunteered to man the wine station...I hate hills : )
Well done in finishing that in the heat !
You say you found it hard but it must have been really great to do something so different . Well done you π
Sounds fabulous!!!! You did tremendously!!! I am just so sorry to have missed it... seriously! xx
You all look fantastic!!! Well done !
Epic Sandie and everyone looking fit and fresh despite the heat, terrain and, of course, booze......net calorie increase I reckon, but what the hell!!π
Well done - sounds like a tough one!
Congratulations Sandie! Sounds fantastic! Great bling too!
That sounds seriously fast for a run that included hills and drinking wine Sandie. Didnβt you all do well? I think all that training you did in the french vineyards was good for you.
Did you drink wine at the water stops? If I had I think I would have lost the way.... π€ͺ
Yes I really must do a bit more hill training but maybe around Southsea castle rather than on trails in a vineyard.
Well done everyone, it sounds like you had a lot of fun.
Not sure Strava got it quite right, I think it was nearer 1:20 because I also lost 0.25km somewhere! I had a cup of water and a cup of wine at the wine/water station, but 2nd time round managed to tip the wine down me because my hands were shakingπ
Sounds bonkers but tons of fun Sandie! Iβm not sure I could have navigated around vines and fields with wine on board! π€ͺ π· Love the happy photo! Well done to you all πππ·π πββοΈπββοΈβοΈπ
Its the quickest I've drunk a cup of wine... twice. White at 5k and rosΓ© at 10k.
They both tasted the same after 5k of running between each cupful.
Congratulations on running and drinking Iβd read about this run and sounded fun. Are you off to France to do the marathon next?
I donβt think so! Iβd need much more wine drinking training before I could tackle the Marathon du Medoc. Oh yes, and perhaps be able to run a little further ππ
Wine and running, 2 of my favourite things. Tremendous running. I think your time was great for hills and having to stop to drink wine. Well done to you all.
Crikey, that sounds like a tough event. Well done π·π·π·
Well, itβs amazing the things runners can do! ππ Never heard of such an event before, but clearly itβs fabulous fun, judging from all those smiles. π Best incentive yet to get to 10k. ππ·
That sounds great fun! There was the Bacchus 10k event on the Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey last weekend also - must be the season for it!
Next year... π πββοΈ π· π΄
Wine at Aid stations! Sweet. I wouldn't run very well after drinking wine, but I haven't been running well this year without drinking wine....maybe that is my problem...I need to drink more wine π·π
Congrats on running hills whilst drinking wine!
Lovely photo and strong running from you all. That takes some doing combining hills wine and running multi tasked and multi talented people you π
