Keep on running

Just one of those great days. A day off work, Not too hot not too cold. Started out with thought’s of 5k maybe pushing it to 6 but I felt good so just kept on running and finished up with a 10k in the bag. I wasn’t pushing myself but beat my other 10k time by five mins so I’m well happy. I could have continued but didn’t want to push my luck. So as the song goes “keep on running 🏃‍♂️ hope you all have a great running day 😀👍

sounds like a fab run, keep on running indeed (are you thinking of upping your distance?)

Hi jeffbird I think I will count my blessings as stay at 10k for quite a bit as it’s only my second one. My ultimate goal is to do a sprint triathlon next summer. But that’s just a wish at the moment. What is your target regarding distance or are you just seeing how it goes.👍😀

I'm seeing how it goes, it definitely helps me to have a goal though. I'm enjoying the longer distances but can't really make the time commitment to train for anything longer (unless I suddenly become a lot quicker!). I admire your triathlon aspiration though!

Well done yourself you did your first 10k you must be well pleased 😁 I think sometimes if you don’t pressure yourself for a time or target it seems to flow and be very enjoyable. I think your right about distance versus time it’s dark before work and dark after and I like my parkrun’s on a Saturday so not much time for anything longer so 10k is OK

Good luck with your race in November 👍😀

Brilliant Runsome! You’re doing amazingly well. 👏👏 I’m in awe of you 10k-ers!

But you’re right, it was a lovely morning for a run even though it didn’t look like it would be when I woke up. Bit blustery, but a great temperature. I did my longest run to 6.25k. I’m upping my long run by 0.25k each week en route to the magical 10k!

You’re definitely speedier than me, as I still keep my C25K snail handy as he helps me every so often! 🐌

Happy running this week. 😀😀

Thanks cheeky great plan 0.25 each week will have you there in no time. Snail’s are good as it’s much nicer running for fun than chasing something that is sometimes out of reach and being disappointed afterwards. All my most enjoyable runs have been with no target in mind 😀

That's a brilliant time Runsome and sounds like an amazing day for running.

How did you get to 10k so quickly!! 😁

Hi Crawlhome Thanks it was almost a perfect day, as for the time it just happened. As I said it wasn’t planned. The route I used to 10k was using ju-ju’s plan but I had to accelerate it a little bit to work up to my first 10k last month. I hadn’t done one since as I was happy to 5k parkrun but I guess it seems a shame to do it once on not again and as I had the day off today and it all came together it worked out fine😀👍

Fab Runsome! I've still to do 10k non-stop - still toying with the idea of the seafront one on Sunday 😁

Sprint triathlon sounds like a brilliant goal. Quite a few of the Hastings Runners I run with on a Wednesday have just started them. They keep asking me to join them but as I can't ride a bike and can only do air hostess swimming (very slow breaststroke with my head above the water at all times 😂) I think that might be some way off 🤣

Hi pianoteacher I think the seafront one will be great and you’ll have plenty of familiar faces about , you’ll smash it. remember slow and steady first one then you’ll have something to go after if you decide to do another. As for the sprint tri I’m with you on the swimming front I will have to brush up on the front crawl technique but not very good at the breathing bit😀
