🎶Let’s Hear It For The Boy🎶

This morning I was pretty reluctant to run. Before going to bed I’d told Mr R I needed to get 18km under my belt before 9am but didn’t think he was listening. The run this morning was accompanied by my Disco Diva Playlist - thanks Hidden - and Let’s Hear it for the Boy started to evolve inside my head as I ran along...

🎶Let's Hear It for the Boy🎶

Mr Razouski he don't talk sweet

He ain't got much to say.

Does he love me, love me, love me?

Didn’t think so when he woke me up today.

Last night said I’d run by nine -

This morning changed my mind.

But his alarm rang in my ear

“6.45 my dear!”

🛌

He knows how to annoy.

“Get out of bed as planned!”

Encouraging me?... Maybe.

“When out there you’ll feel grand.”

Oh-oh-oh maybe he's no running coach

Without him I would be a sloth.

Whoa, whoa, whooa-oh

Let's hear it for the boy.

🚶🏼‍♂️

My baby may not keep fit,

He likes to drink and dine.

Ooh, but he loves me, loves me, loves me

And he wants me to run in good time.

He made me a cup of tea

And that's all right by me, yeah

“18 k you’ll smash it well.”

To me it sounds like hell.

🤦🏽‍♀️

Let's hear it for the boy

He’s trying to give a hand

Let's hear it for my baby

He really tries to understand

Oh-oh-oh, he asks where I am running to

He’ll pick me up when I am through.

Whoa, whoa, whoa-oh

Let's hear it for the boy

🚙

'Cause every time I’m feeling fear.

He fills me with good cheer.

👱🏼‍♂️

Let’s hear it for the man.

He’s my biggest fan.

Showed me 18k I can.

🏃🏾‍♀️

And I did. It was hard going, but 18km in 1 hour and 39 minutes was pretty amazing for me and he was dead impressed when he picked me up from my finish point.

Glad you enjoyed it Lorijay , I think my muse had gone on holiday for the summer, but I was back on form this morning. :-)

Well done great run 😊

Cheers, Hidden I really wasn't looking forward to it and would far rather have stayed in bed. But I'm pleased I did it and managed the distance.

I know what you mean , I was out at 6.30 barely daylight. Those runs often turn out to good ones and the most rewarding..

You have got that HM in your sights 😊

3 more km on this morning's , and if I can keep my pace going I might not be too slow.

in reply to Razouski

I don't think you need to worry about your pace or the distance .. 😊

😳 Wow! That is an amazing time! Great run and great lyrics, once again 😊

I was a bit surprised by the time, but so was MR R who hadn't expected me to phone him quite so soon for a lift home. I'm not sure if I can keep up the pace another time.

Everything fell into place, despite the struggle to get out of bed. That is what I remind myself of when I'm struggling to get out the door and it is amazing how things work out. On my last run, it was windy, getting dark and huge rain drops were coming down when I stepped out the door. Decided to still run and ran my second fastest 6-8k ever and felt amazing, although I looked like a drowned rat 😆

18km is dead impressive. EVERYone is impressed. Great lyrics too. Well done to you both for the joint effort.

I’m training for a half marathon, so 18km is good, but I still have a bit more to do.

Not much more! I'm sure you'll make it. Especially with the help of getting kicked out of bed 😀

Too right Razouski, he should be impressed. 18k and a brilliant bit of songwriting too. It’s great that he’s so supportive too - let’s hear it for the boys 👏👏

Yes, it's great to have supportive other halves Dexy5 . Unfortunately he has very bad arthritis in both knees so can't run with me, but having him pick me up means I don't have to complete the hill from hell in order to get home. It would probably put me off the longer distances.

Wow, that is fast! Well done! I’m in awe of your speed, that will be a HM in around 2 hours! Go you!👏🏃‍♀️

Ps. 18k is plenty in prep for a HM, HM = 21k......

Thanks Madge, my target time that I've been working towards is 2 hours 20 minutes, but I might shave a bit off.
