Not quite sure how I managed this, but it happened.
Storm 'Fabienne' (I think it was called Bronagh in the UK) came through last night and this morning was really cold - about 6 degrees. The farmers knew this was going to happen, so lots of cows have been moved from the high pastures down to the valley where I run. I've only been running since May, so this is the coldest weather I've ever had to run in. Running jacket on and off I trot. I'm doing my usual 10k out and back along the valley. I like to run negative splits and my usual starting pace is around 7.20/km.
I got to 5k feeling really good and turned for home. Ok Mike, let’s go. Pace now around 6.40/km. It just got better and better, with the last km at 6.22. I knew I'd smashed my PB for10k by miles - just over 3 minutes in fact. When I got home and looked at Garmin Connect I was amazed to see that my homeward leg was also a PB for 5k!
Happy bunny. I love cold weather - thanks Fabienne!

What a great run Mike. Was the wind behind you on the way home? 🏃♂️💨 yes it was cool here this morning but okay once we started running. I think it’s not getting cold after running that is going to be the problem in winter
Thanks Cheeky! Yes, we're here all winter, and we have a dilemma. On one hand, everyone wants it to snow a lot so the skiing's good. On the other hand, if I want to run outside I want mild temps and dry. Don’t know what to wish for!
