Rookie mistake and sausage fingers

Went way too fast this morning, I don’t know why? It felt right and I enjoyed it but my planned longer run had to be cut short as I knew I would struggle. So I shortened my planned 7-8k to 6 and did a bit of Jeffing for the last km or so. I didn’t seem to be able to run at my usual comfortable pace but kept running at this new, faster pace (still very slow compared to most!). It was a gorgeous morning but it felt really warm. My fingers were really swollen after, I think due to the temperature. Does anyone else experience this? I also get it on long walks in warm weather. Happy running everyone, sausage fingers and all!

Yes... have had sausage fingers when walking, particularly in the heat, since I was in my teens! They range from big pork bangers to slightly under-filled chipolatas. Doc never seemed concerned about it (much more concerned about my weight, which is getting better since starting this running lark!). :)

As long as you enjoyed it...it was a good run Molly. Every run teaches us something doesn't it...😊

Well done on your speedy run! 😊xx

I make a point of moving my arms about and flexing my hands and wrists at several points during a run as otherwise they can become too fixed and uncomfortable. Same with shoulders too 👍

Yes in warm weather, and I don’t have to be running or walking, just hot.

Yep .. heat can do that to me. I never worry about it.

I think fast is ok for the shorter runs, but take it easy for the longer ones

Thank you. It was strange, I just didn’t feel comfortable at my usual slowest pace. Im sure it won’t last!

Yep me too on long walks, but not always, very strange. I usually end up doing a jazz hands shake em about thing which gets them back to normal but gets me some strange looks 😁

Lots to drink and fat bangers are back to my normal chipolatas 👍

On long walks when it’s warm my hands puff up like I am allergic to something...I can never wear my rings on a hike or they would have to be cut off. Circulation and overheating issues I think...so attractive 😂👍

Do what feels good. I enjoy running faster (thrill seeking) but my more enjoyable runs are my jogging speed at about 7min /km pace.

I don't like getting hot so I can see my pace probably dropping off a bit.
