... I did it. It was slower than the first I did some weeks ago in my favourite park for a couple of reasons I think...
1) I don’t find evenings easy - I’m always faster in the morning.
2) chatting with buddy to start with
3) long gentle incline and a steep bit for the last 500m before we turn around halfway - I find that situation more than challenging and I’m still training the glutes!
4) probably not fuelled or hydrated well enough
5) I did 200m of kick sets in the pool yesterday to get the HR up and sprints involving kicking as part of the 160 session and I don’t normally use my legs much but am trying to improve aerobic fitness
6) it was 21degC and felt sticky-humid.
Not that these are excuses - more about me understanding why. So I am actually pleased I finished it!
I’ve cooled down, stretched and rollered now, drank about 4pt of squash, and eaten my tea and now feeling more human.
I’m pleased all the aches seem to be muscular. My upper body and back feel loads better than before and, even though I couldn’t always maintain good form, I did catch myself rolling, crossing my hands over my midline, and slowing the cadence on occasion and I corrected it.
Only need to do double that run in October to complete the Great South 😰🐌🤞🏻Looking forward to an easy 4K on Thursday- bliss!!
